Naval
Shipyard
Sdn. Bhd. (BN Shipyard) dan
Pharmaniaga Berhad (Pharmaniaga)
telah menjadi penganjur utama
program GLC SME ExplorAce 2015
bersama Kementerian Perdagangan
Antarabangsa dan Industri (MITI)
dan SME Bank. Program dua hari itu
telah berlangsung di Dewan Tun Dr.
Ismail, Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra
pada 2 dan 3 Jun 2015.
Dear fellow Bousteadians,
The first half of the year has certainly
been demanding, with various external
pressures impacting the Group.
Despite this, we have been able to
weather through this by building on the
diversified nature of our businesses.
As a result, most of our Divisions
delivered a satisfactory performance
for the first six months of the year.
We also achieved a milestone with
the unveiling of MyTOWN Shopping
Centre, which is being developed
on Jalan Cochrane. This is a key
undertaking for the Group and given
the prospects of this strategically
located development, we are confident
this will strengthen our earnings
potential in the years to come.
Meanwhile, we recently welcomed one
of the world’s largest cruise vessels,
the Quantum of the Seas, which
had its maiden visit at the Boustead
Cruise Centre (BCC) in Port Klang. As
a port of call for major cruise liners into
Malaysia, the BCC is indeed a strategic
investment for the Group, enabling us to
tap into the growing tourism industry.
Furthermore, in support of the
Government’s objectives to cultivate
a skilled workforce for the nation, we
took part in GLC SME ExplorAce 2015.
Facilitating vendor development, this
is a viable platform which provides
opportunities for the SME industry
by connecting companies with local
vendors.
In addition, we participated in the BN
Youth Job Fair 2015. We received a
positive response from fresh graduates
and prospective candidates with great
potential, which indeed bodes well for
the Group as we continue our drive to
strengthen our talent pool.
In the midst of challenging conditions,
I commend all Bousteadians on your
dedication and hard work thus far. As
we move forward in the second half of

Thank you.

Mutiara Rini's Retreat in Penang (8 - 11 May 2015)
"We are ready to play. Bring it on!"
The winner takes it all
Day
Work hard. Escape reality. Go on holiday. Back to reality. Repeat.
M
utiara Rini Sdn. Bhd. (Mutiara Rini)
recently took some time off from
our busy schedule for a company retreat
to Penang, where we stayed at The
Royale Bintang Penang. Our group was
split into two flights and we touched
down at Penang International Airport,
where we were warmly welcomed by
two local guides, Mr. Freza and Ms. May
Tan of Boustead Travel.
Day
1
(8 May 2015)
Our first destination in Penang was
Peranakan Mansion. We had our lunch
at Kapitan Restaurant along Jalan
Masjid Kapitan Keling, where we had the
famous Chicken Tandoori Nasi Briyani
which was simply delicious. After Friday
prayers, we strolled through Little India
and Penang Street in Georgetown,
taking pictures of the quirky murals
and interesting art scene that attracts
scores of locals and tourists.
"We are cruising!"
Just out for a fun time
The masterpiece of batik artwork
Day
2
(9 May 2015)
We disembarked from the cruise
at 11.00 a.m. on the pier. We then
had our lunch at Ummu Shirah Kari
Kepala Ikan at Batu Ferringhi before
we headed to Penang Tropical Fruit
Farm at Teluk Bahang. We were
invited by our tour guide to explore
the orchard, following which we had
a fresh fruit buffet to taste all the
varieties of tropical fruits and juices
from the farm.
We then proceeded to the Batik
Factory where the first team building
challenge began. We were divided
into six groups: Le’ Pirates, Blue
Shark, Red Avengers, Le’o, Roarrr!!
and Purplicious. Every group was
required to produce their very own
batik masterpiece. We discovered
that our staff members were quite
talented, with good painting and art
skills.
(11 May 2015)
Our final morning in Penang began
with a delicious breakfast at the
hotel before we checked out and
headed to the Penang 3D Trick Art
Museum. It was sheer fun posing
with various exhibits there. This
fantastic museum showcases the
culture and history of Penang in a
fun and innovative manner.
Around 4.30 p.m., we headed over
to Penang Swettenham Pier to
board the Superstar Libra Cruise.
That evening we had our dinner
on the pool deck while enjoying a
beautiful sunset. Later, we explored
the ship and took part in a variety
of activities, such as the Stardust
show, movie screening, live band,
karaoke session and so much more.
At midnight, we headed up to the top
deck and enjoyed stargazing at the
night sky accompanied by a calm
sea breeze.
Day
4
3
(10 May 2015)
The third day kicked off with adventure
games at Ferringhi Beach. We started
with team bonding activities: Zumba,
Spiderman Web, Fill Me Up and a
volleyball game on the beach. We had a
fun-filled day full of laughter.
At the end of the night, we
counted the total points
to determine the winners.
Congratulations to Le’ Pirates
for winning the Team Building
Games 2015. We also
announced the Best Dressed
of the Night, bestowing them
with the titles Captain of the
Ship: Tn. Hj. Othman and Miss
Nautica: Pn. Farawahidah. We
all certainly had a blast that
night.
Introducing our talented buskers
Captain of the Ship and Miss Nautica
After this, we had our lunch at
Pan Mutiara Curry House and
departed Penang with a heavy
heart. Even though it was packed
with activities, it was an enjoyable
team building trip. We will treasure
the memories that we shared with
all of our colleagues during the trip.
After we had our lunch, we returned to
our hotel to get some rest and prepare
for the Nautical BBQ Dinner at Bay View
Beach Resort. We were entertained by
our very own Mutiara Rini staff who are
talented buskers, Nazeef and Hafizudin,
who performed two songs during dinner.
That was their first performance in front
of a big audience.
We also had another two indoor games
that challenged our critical thinking
and persistence, as we had to complete
jigsaw puzzles and play a new IQ game
called ‘HIQU’ blocks. The atmosphere
during the games was exciting and
nerve-wrecking at the same time as each
of the teams competed with one another.
Ahoy! Sail away!
