the market. This is the result – 14cm 1.15
litre, 3 ply with pouring lip. Fantastic for
eggs, heating sauces or melting butter.

It is not known when the hibachi was first used in Japan.
However, written records suggest that it was in use by the
Heian period (798-1185 AD). Owing to the low availability of
metal in Japan, early hibachis were made from dug-out cypress
wood lined with clay. However, craftsmen soon began to make
more decorative versions with lacquered finishes, gold leaf, and
other artistic embellishments. Stronger materials such as metal
and ceramics became popular over time. Traditional hibachis
can be very attractive objects in themselves and are today
sometimes sold as antiques. They were originally used mainly
by the samurai classes and aristocrats but gradually spread
among the general population. This is the perfect barbecue for

mud australia was founded in 1994. The porcelain range, designed by Shelley Simpson, combines hand made
processes, clean lines, colour palette and functionality. The end result is a product that neatly intersects a minimalist
aesthetic with an artisan finish. mud porcelain happily fits in any interior, providing a timeless alternative to mass
produced ceramic design.
Made from Limoges porcelain, sourced directly from France, the pigment is tinted through the porcelain body to
provide colour-depth. Clear glaze is then hand brushed to the interior of each piece leaving the exterior with a
vitrified stone-like surface that becomes smooth with handling.
