CALENDAR ------------------------------------------PT continues to provide free and anonymous HIV/AIDS screening tests supported by pre and post test counselling done by trained volunteers at our newly renovated centre in Chow Kit. This facility was developed with the kind support of CIMB Foundation and is open 3 days a week, with over 2,000 people having done the HIV test with us so far. PT also plans to continue to develop the service with longer opening hours and STI screening services being introduced in 2010. XVIII International AIDS Conference 18 July – 23 July Established in 1992, the PT Mak Nyah Programme has fostered good rapport with the transgender communities (also known as Mak Nyahs) living in Kuala Lumpur. This community-based program focuses on issues such self-empowerment, human rights, personal development in addition to health concerns related to HIV/AIDS and STI. In our drop-in centre, we focus on empowerment through education and offer gender and sexuality education for our clients, to address the issues of stigma and discrimination which they may have personally experienced. We believe it is important to provide support groups and education sessions which empower them to deal with the issues that they must face on a daily basis. We strive to support life skills capacity building through providing education materials and other support programmes to the community members. PT Foundation’s Sex Workers Programme, established in 1992, provides a safe space for sex workers to address their concerns. Our drop-in centre provides a variety of sessions and support groups, aimed at empowering sex workers and building their self-confidence to overcome years of judgment and discrimination against them. Ikhlas is another one of the five programmes at PT Foundation. Founded in 1992, its objective is to address the pressing needs of the street based drug user community. Ikhlas caters for their physical needs, while being committed to providing information, materials, care and support services relating to HIV/AIDS and drug use. Adam was a great reason they came. There are many people who have supported us in many different ways, those close to us, our friends & even total strangers like Joe Hasham, Dato’ Faridah Merican, Mark Beau de Silva and the whole cast whose lives have been touched by someone living with HIV. We all still have our own stories to write, our own stories to tell”. - Andrew Tan, Community Coordinator & former MAC EXCO Melinda Looi vibrant “Circle of Hope” design knapsack for sale For more information contact Shanthini @+ 603 40451033 Besides that, we were also blessed with the overwhelming media coverage from various media agencies.
