Hello FiftyForward Members:
As I write this, we are days away from celebrating Jesus’ birthday
and beginning a New Year! I hope you all have wonderful
holidays! I look so forward to celebrating with my family!
The J. L. Turner Center will operate much differently beginning in mid-January. We will still have
three full-time positions serving our members here, but they will have different titles and different
responsibilities. There is more information about these positions in the section below. It is with great
pride that I tell you that I have promoted Candace Jones to the position of Program Director. She will
now be responsible for everything that has anything to do with the programming at our Center. You
should always go to Candace first with any of your questions about, or suggestions for, programming
at the Center. Candace is so good at everything that she does, and will do an exceptional job in this
capacity. We are also privileged to have the services of an intern from MTSU, Jamie McCone, from
mid-January through the end of April. I hope you will be patient with, and supportive of, our staff as
we make these much needed changes and bring many additions and improvements to the J. L. Turner
Center. And, please congratulate Candace on her promotion when you see her!
We have many wonderful things planned for January, and I want to encourage you to take part in
many of them despite the cold weather, early darkness, and changing weather conditions. I want to
thank each of you that participated in the things that we planned in 2015. We had unbelievable
crowds at both our Thanksgiving Luncheon and our Christmas Brunch. I hope to see the same level of
participation at our major events in 2016.
I have enjoyed spending the last six months of 2015 with you and trying to serve your needs and
interests to the best of my ability. I welcome your comments, concerns, suggestions and questions at
any time to help us serve you even better in 2016. I hope you know that my door is always open to you!
Susan
MAJOR Staff Restructuring at FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center:
Two Different Staff Positions Now Providing Member Services/Center Operations
In the last several weeks, Center Director Susan Dillingham has done some major restructuring of the staff positions
serving the J. L. Turner Center. Beginning in late December, two of the staff positions serving the Center will be
known as the J. L. Turner Center Program Director and the J. L. Turner Center Member Relations and Volunteer
Manager. Candace Jones has been named as the new FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center Program Director. She has a
Bachelors Degree in Social Work and has been with the Turner Center for over two years as Program Coordinator
facilitating the Transportation Group, as well as using her artistic talents to conduct various arts and crafts
programming. She has over seven years of experience working with older adults and looks forward to continuing to
plan a varied calendar to meet your needs of health, well-being and lifelong learning.
And we are currently taking applications for the new position of FiftyForward J. L. Turner Center Member Relations
and Volunteer Manager. This position will be responsible for Volunteer Management as well as recruiting members
to participate in programming. The person in this position will be responsible for developing and enhancing member
relations and training volunteers. He or she will also assist with facilitating programs as needed. Letters of interest
and resumes should be sent to Eileen Johnson at [email protected] by Wednesday, December 23rd at 4:00
p.m.
