UK. Yamaha grand piano. Sunbury is at J1 of the M3, near Hampton Court and
Heathrow airport. Parking in Orchard Meadow car park, off The Avenue. Stay overnight
at Premier Inn, TW16 7AT or Warren Lodge, Shepperton TW17 9JZ. Buses 216 or 555
from e.g. Kingston or Walton on Thames to Lower Sunbury Village. British Rail: Sunbury
SUU is on the Shepperton line from Waterloo, 15 min. walk.
COST: £150 (£88 for single day), to include 12 hours of lectures and demonstrations. Bring
something you are working on. No obligation to play in public. Coffee and tea, and a CD
and DVD by the Maestro included for 2-day participants. Chances to discuss your music
with the maestro at lunches, breaks and on Thurs. evening at local restaurant.
CONCERT: a recital of works by Chopin and Godowsky will be given by Maestro Grante at
Riverside Arts Centre at 7.30 p.m. on Wed. 2 October. Tickets as below.
Day One topics to include: (1) “Chunking” up and down (Brahms) (2) Reductio ad unum:
learning to identify simple structures in apparently complex music (Liszt)(3) Voicing and
Tone-Production: choosing ideal sound-weight proportions (Debussy).
Day Two will focus on: (4) Mind-mapping and Memorisation (5) Using harmonic, melodic,
expressive, phraseological etc. modalities to enhance learning
(6) Improving Articulation, with Mozart as teacher.
