Throughout the course of the run, color-safe dye will be thrown in the air as runners and walkers go by in their white shirts. The more donations you collect, the more color AND amazing rewards you receive! Students should have received a fundraiser packet with information/directions for making donations/payments online. We will be offering workshops on May 6, 13 and 20. If you would like to participate, register here. These workshops are geared toward students in grades 4 through 8, but each child must be accompanied by an adult. Slots for this workshop are limited and provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. We are again limiting each workshop to 10 teams of one adult, one child. Questions? Contact Brian Shimon, SHS Associate Principal, at 877.5605 [email protected]. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Syttende Mai Celebration With all the excitement of the upcoming Syttende Mai, we would just like to remind parents that our intent will be to run a normal school day. River Bluff is a closed campus. Students signing out during the day on Friday, May 15th will only be released to their parents. Students will not be given approval to leave campus for the lunch period. Friday morning is also our CREW day away to Fast Forward. 8th Grade Celebration In honor of your child’s middle school accomplishments, River Bluff Middle School is hosting a celebration evening on Friday, June 5th, from 5:30-8:00pm. Watch for more information to come your way. We would like to encourage all 8th grade students to attend. Important End-of-Year Information The end of the year field trips for all grade levels will take place on Wednesday, June 10. Students have been encouraged to be part of the "Crew" by being respectful to all, engaged in safety, and willing to accept responsibility for their actions. Because of this, each block has discussed with their students the process students should take if they have received two or more referrals and how and if there are steps for them to take if they want to earn restorative justice. Contact your child’s block leader if you have specific questions. Year-End Field Trips 6th grade—Stoughton Historic Walking Tour and Cinema Café Movie 7th grade—Mt. Olympus Theme Park, Wisconsin Dells 8th grade—Noah’s Ark Waterpark, Wisconsin Dells HOW TO DROP AN EGG WITHOUT BREAKING The egg drop is a classic science experiment. To drop an egg without breaking it, you need to find a way to minimize the force of the impact and its effects on the delicate eggshell. The best ways to do this are to cushion the egg while also changing the way it drops and the way it lands. Our 6th grade students had the task of creating a cushioned barrier to stop an egg from breaking when dropped from the 2nd level window. INCOMING 6th GRADE ORIENTATION River Bluff Staff would like to invite families of students who will be entering 6th Grade for the 2015-2016 School year to Orientation Night on Tuesday, May 5th from 6:30PM-7:30PM at the River Bluff cafeteria. At this meeting we will be having presentations on the many instructional programs of River Bluff, our student services and supports, and we will have a guided tour to check out the many exciting related arts activities. We hope to see you there! Please call us at 877-5500 if you have any questions.
