JSTqt^to. go into details, it was made'clear that there is a valley running through the west side "of town, running near Pleasant Street, especially from Tilfrin Street to Main Road. It is hardly credible; but true, that there is a drop of 18 feet 4 inches between the Pennsylvania -Railroad and MaTbJtbadrbjTway of the natural water course, being a distance of 480 rods, and draining an area in all fully 750 acres. This, according to the committee and- Engineer Ha'tton, is, amply sufficient to drain Hammonton, provided ditches are dug in proper places and the humps leveled off. They also reported sections of streets where there Is a "dead level" for hundreds of feet (up to a thousand), which should be repaired. They recommended that the work be done by a competent engineer, as it would constitute a permanent improvement. The report was accepted, the committee tlxanked, and the matter referred to annual tovfn meeting.
