EMPERS flared between Puchong's
Bandar Puteri 9 resident and Subang Jaya
Municipal Council (MPSJ) during a dialogue to brief residents on slope strengthening
works after several landslips in the area.
The first incident in May last year caused a
portion of a retention wall to collapse and a
landslide happened last month •after days of
heavy rain.
This has caused cracks on the only access
road to the cul-de-sac of 58 houses and the
road is currently unsafe for cars to pass
through.
Six families were moved out of their homes
last month and were being put up at the 101
Resort in Putrajaya.
During the session, statements given by
MPSJ engineering head Ismail Shafie, Puchong
MP Gobind Singh Deo, Kinrara assemblyman
Teresa Kok and former 101 Properties executive director Datuk David Tan (the area was
developed by its subsidiary Flora Development)
were interrupted several times by the angry
residents.
Many were not pleased with how the developer and MPSJ had handled the situation over
the past year, with many questions still left
unanswered and many documents that they
requested have not been given to them.
Ismail said the council have decided in a
meeting on March 26 to build a temporary
access road at Jalan Puteri 9/2A, which cuts
through one resident's bungalow.
"The access road is urgently needed because
the current access road in the housing estate is
not safe for public use.
"We also need to get to the area to carry out
further soil testing.
"The council has issued a notice under Act
133 for the owners of four affected houses to
break down their perimeter walls so that we

can build the temporary road through their
compounds," said Ismail.
Currently, the temporary road has only
affected one house, 1 Jalan Puteri 9/2A, and the
construction works were expected to be completed on April 20, after which the developer
would start remedialworks.
"Ikram (the Public Works Institute of
Malaysia) is also monitoring the site and carry-
ing out geophysic works to find out the cause
of the problems in the area," he said.
Gobind said that during a previous meeting,
residents have requested for a letter of undertaking from Flora Development to assure that
the whole area of Bandar Puteri 9 was safe to
stay in.
"These are minuted and we will give the
developer until next week to do so. We're not

only concerned about the safety of residents
along this road but those in the whole area," he
said.
The developer has also given the option to
buy back the affected houses from the owners
and Kok said that if the owners did not agree
on the compensation, they can go through an
arbitration process.

MB asks PJ folk to work with
council to realise city's aim
ETALING Jaya residents have been asked
to be patient and work together with the
city council as they transform the city
into a cleaner and greener area.
Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim
said, "By taking up the task of waste disposal
and appointing their own contractors, the
mayor has shifted the paradigm," he said.
Khalid said this during the launch of the
Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Clean Zone
2012 at Sunway Giza recently.
The programme is part of MBPJ's ongoing
efforts to create a cleaner, greener PJ.
The MBPJ has focused more on waste disposal services by appointing 150 contractors.
PJ mayor Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman
said the contractors would be given three
months probationary period while being monitored by some 60 MBPJ officers who have
been appointed for the task.
Roslan said he hoped the restaurant owners and premises operators in PJU 5 would
ensure the cleanliness of their foothpaths
and backlanes even after declaring the area a

clean zone.
In his speech, Khalid said cleanliness was a
culture that has to be cultivated in all
Malaysians.
"Let's create a culture of cleanliness. I believe
the people of PJ will support the concept," said
Khalid.
During the launch, all Selangor local councils exhibited their ideas and implementations
in their various townships.
Khalid gave out the prizes for the Best
Exhibition which was bagged by the Subang

Puchong.
THE Serdang district police headquarters
recently launched a safety programme
focusing on commercial and business
districts called Business Watch.
The programme in Puchong and
Serdang is a joint effort by the police, 101
Properties Berhad and Subang Jaya
Municipal Council (MPSJ).
Serdang OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Elias
said the programme is modelled after
Neighbourhood Watch and carries the
concept of "the community looking out
for each other."
"This programme is being carried out
as there are more commercial and industrial areas in the city nowadays, and the
community seeks safety assurance.
"Business Watch aims to prevent and
reduce crime through cooperation and
education.

"It promotes communication and
understanding between law enforcement bodies and the business communities.
"In this programme, we will educate
the merchants to crime-proof their own
properties watch over neighbouring outlets and to report suspicious activities
happening around them.
He said merchants would place
Business Watch stickers on their shop
windows and parking bays.
101 Boulevard building manager Mohd
Noorafizam Ismail said the programme
was a good a way for business community to work together with the police to
ensure the community's safety.
"We have done similar programmes
during the Chinese New Year to look
after the commercial area but Business
Watch is better as it is being done together with police and merchants throughout
the year," said Mohd Noorafizam.

SSALAMUALAIKUM!
Penghujung Mac lalu
saya menemubual
Zainal Abidin di
Langkawi yang ketika
itu sedang menjalani
penggambaran klip video
lagu terbarunya, Alam yang
berlatarkan keindahan
LAW Andaman serta
The Andaman, A Luxury
Collection Resort.
Kami banyak bercerita
mengenai industri dan
alam yang semakin punah
sekarang ini. Kepunahan itu
juga kami kaitkan dengan
industri hiburan Malaysia
yang dipenuhi mereka yang
tidak serius untuk menggalas
tugas serta tanggungjawab
sebagai anak seni.
Lalu Zainal Abidin yang
terkenal dengan pandangan
lantang, menyifatkan ramai
artis kita terutama yang
muda-muda baik penyanyi
mahupun pelakon sebagai
sampah. Saya menulis
mengenai temubual itu
dan ramai teman wartawan
menganggukkan kepala
bersetuju dengan apa yang
dikatakan lelaki berusia 53
tahun itu.
Malah mereka turut
menamakan beberapa
nama secara bergurau yang
mungkin boleh disifatkan
tiada guna berada di dalam
industri, tetapi biarlah senarai
itu hanya kami yang tahu.
Kami sekadar menilai secara
kasar mungkin, barangkali
ada yang tidak tepat.
Saya sememangnya
bersetuju dengan apa yang
dikatakan penyanyi lagu
Hijau itu. Industri kita banyak
sampah, mereka tiada hala
tuju dengan apa mereka
lakukan. Bahkan tidak tahu
apa yang cuba mereka
lakukan sebenar. Ramai!
Mentang-mentang industri
ini terbuka kepada sesiapa
sahaja, malah tanpa sijil
kelulusan yang tinggi sebagai
kriteria utama untuk berada
di depan kamera, mereka
mengambil peluang menjual
wajah semata-mata. Tidak
pernah serius, sebaliknya
mengikut sahaja apa yang
teman lakukan atau terikutikut dengan artis idola
masing-masing.Tidak kurang
juga yang mengikut trend
tanpa identiti sendiri.Yuna
bertudung sambil main gitar,
maka ramailah yang menurut.
Jarang yang kita dengar
kata Zainal, artis lahir dari
sekolah seni persembahan
yang mempraktikkan latihan
dan ilmu mereka di dalam
seni arus perdana. Memang
ada tetapi boleh dibilang
dengan jar Lagi pula, kalau
kita perhatikan industri kita,
pola penerimaan seseorang
artis lebih kepada rupa paras.
Itu yang pertama diperlukan
untuk pakej sebagai penyanyi
dan tidak tahu siapa yang
memulakan atau melabelkan
pakej itu.
Apakah orang industri
sendiri yang merangkumi
penerbit, komposer, pembiaya
produk seni, media yang
hanya mahu mencantikkan
wajah penerbitan mereka
atau masyarakat? Saya masih
tertanya hal ini walaupun
secara kasarnya, jawapannya
adalah semua di atas.
Namun apa yang dikatakan
sampah di sini, bukan semua
yang sedang berada di
dalam industri hari ini. Zainal
dan saya dalam perbualan
selepas makan malam yang
diatur oleh Pengurus Besar
hotel The Andaman, Anne
Scott itu, lebih menjurus
kepada mereka yang suka
memberatkan perjalanan
kariernya ke arah glamor dan
populariti. Soal kualiti usah
kita bicarakan di sini kerana
pada sesetengah orang, is
bersifat subjektif.
Ards sampah biasanya
tiada kesungguhan di dalam
mempertajamkan kebolehan,
mendalami ilmu pengetahuan
mengenai apa yang mereka
lakukan dan mempelajari
persekitaran industri. Rasanya
anda semua pernah dengar
perkataan 'bimbo' dan la
boleh dijadikan tag nama artis
yang dikategorikan sampah
itu.
Okaylah kalau si bimbo ini
HARD
Tarikh:
sudah melangkah ke dalam
industri tetapi alangkah
moleknya kalau mereka cuba
mengerti apa yang industri
mahukan, atau sekurangkurangnya memperbaiki diri
untuk menjadi lebih baik
daripada semalam. Kalau dari
awal sehingga bergelar senior
pun, masih tidak berubah,
faham-faham sendirilah.
Setidak-tidaknya sampah itu
boleh dikitar semula menjadi
benda yang berharga.
Elok juga ada majlis
penganugerahan ini untuk
mengukur sejauh mana
perkembangannya. Sayangnya
kalau mereka yang sudah
berada di dalam industri
ini tidak menggunakan
kesempatan yang ada. Kaki
sudah selangkah ke dalam,
alang-alang kenali dunia yang
sedang anda selami.
Ketika menulis artikel
ini malam Jumaat lalu,
saya teringat kawan baik
saya, Maya Karin yang
bermula sebagai pengacara
program Wavelength
di TV3. Kecantikannya
memikat produser untuk
menawarkannya ke
filem dan memang filem
pertamanya teruk. Maaf
Maya! Tetapi hakikatnya
begitu. Bagaimanapun cuba
lihat Maya hari ini, pihak
luar mengangkatnya melalui
penghayatan tingginya
sebagai pontianak. Industri
kita sendiri memuji Maya dan
Ahad lalu, dia dipilih sebagai
Pelakon Filem Wanita Popular.
Terbaik dan popular, seising
kan? Maya antara artis yang
saya kagumi, tidak hanya
cantik semata-mata tetapi
akal panjang.
Industri seni banyak
mengajar kita mengenai
kehidupan dan tidak hanya
untuk berhibur semata-mata.
Pengajaran bukan hanya di
dalam layar kaca atau kelir
lebar, bahkan perjalanan
kehidupan mereka juga
mampu peminat jadikan
teladan untuk menjadikan
hari ini lebih balk daripada
semalam.
Sesiapa yang sudi untuk
berkongsi cerita, ikuti saya di
Twitter able abdullah.
Wassalam.
