On behalf of IBA - Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción we are writing to
request your sponsorship for the 2015 Festival Betances, New
England’s longest-running Latino Cultural Celebration.
The Festival will be held in the Villa Victoria community of
Boston’s South End neighborhood from July 17-19, 2015.
Your contribution will help us reach over 3,000 multi-cultural
audience members through musical and dance performances,
ranging from local and regional acts to international Latin music such
as Larry Harlow from Fania All Stars, Tony Vega, and Tito Rojas.
Our family friendly weekend also includes: children’s activities like
face painting and inflatables; a parade; traditional cuisine; and arts &
crafts that highlight the diversity of Latino culture. We invite you to

FRIDAY, JULY 17TH
NOCHE DE BOHEMIA
Festival Betances opens with a Community Procession that
features the vibrancy and diversity of our community and
culture. Parading through the streets will be: drummings troupes;
baton dancers; cultural organizations and neighborhood associations.
Noche de Bohemia, a Puerto Rican tradition features a band performing
popular romantic Puerto Rican songs.
SATURDAY, JULY 18TH
INTERNATIONAL DAY
We present a variety of music and dance performances
by International artists, performing in diverse styles from
Salsa, Samba & Rumba, to Hip-hop and Bomba.
We also offer: inflatables and fun educational
activitites for children and youth; a craft fair
featuring the work of skilled artisans; a domino
tournament and delicious cuisine.
SUNDAY, JULY 19TH
PUERTO RICAN HERITAGE
Dedicated to Puerto Rico’s rich cultural traditions, the final
day offers: the exciting Grease Pole competition in which
teams climb to the top of a 40-foot pole to win cash
prizes; a basketball tournament; and music and
dance performances.
