• Hand Me My Bow And Arrow is the second album
from Kate Martin. As the title suggests, it was a difficult
second album, but not for the usual reasons of writer’s
block and procrastination. Instead, Kate was beset by
a series of personal battles throughout the writing and
recording process, beginning with the divorce of her
parents, compounded by lost jobs, discarded boyfriends,
unpaid rent and culminating in being evacuated from her
house to escape a cyclone.
• “The album came together surprisingly easily”, Kate
explains, “I wasn’t exactly short of material to write
about”. Even though the writing of the album came
together quickly, the recording process took a torturous 18
months. Having to travel from her home town of Townsville
to Sydney’s Love Hz Studios to record, Kate squeezed in
sessions between touring.
• While most of the 100+ instruments played on the
album were shared between Kate and producer Michael
Carpenter, a few friends also joined in on vocals and
various instruments, including Bree Tranter and Rohin
Jones from the now defunct band The Middle East.
• Like Kate’s first album, Hand Me My Bow and Arrow
is a complex, eclectic album that reveals more upon each
listen.
• Kate embarks on a national album tour on April 27th
in Townsville and ending in Canberra on May 19.

home country of South Africa, celebrated for his distinct,

Nelson Mandela's inauguration in 1994, and continues
to spread Mandela's message as an official ambassador
