It’s history dates back to the Samurai era of Japan. Techniques are based on the simple principal of circular force applied in harmony to redirect the force of an attack. Sensei Jaimie Sheppard 5th Dan Having graded under Saikokomon Kiyoyuki Terada (9th Dan), Jaimie's IYAF certification allows him to award Dan and teaching certificates which are registered in Japan. Certified as a Hojuitsu instructor, Sheppard Sensei is also a Use of Force and Defensive Tactics instructor certified by the Province of Ontario. He has been involved in training over 2,000 police officers. The founder, Morihei Ueshiba (18821969) developed the system based on his lifetime study of combining technical skill and spirit. One of his distinguished students, Gozo Shioda (1915-1994) founded the International Yoskinkai Aikido Federation. Training under the guidance of Sensei Amos Parker Shihan (8th dan), Jaimie also has certificates in Instruction from the Canadian Police College(RCMP) and the Chudokan Aikido Federation. He also has trained in Judo and Seikido(Tae Kwon Do) Greg Grununger Yoshinkan Aikido concentrates on fundamental basic movements and techniques, many of which have practical self defense applications. 4th Dan A former combat arms member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Greg has been studying Aikido since 1994. He was awarded his present rank grading under Sensei Amos Parker Shihan, in October. 2007. Greg's dan and International Yoshinkan Aikido Federation teaching certificates are registered in Japan. Greg is in charge of the City of London's Spectrum Aikido program and he teaches all introductory programs. Greg leads a team of software testers in the private sector. The Aiki Budo Centre is the only licensed, internationally recognized and registered club in London. We hanve members who train full time in Japan and at other registered clubs worldwide. Steven Chau 4th Dan Awarded his present rank having graded under Sensei Amos Parker Shihan (8thDan) in October 2007, Steve started studying Aikido in 1976 under Kimeda Sensei (8th Dan). Steve has also studied and taught Kung Fu. Certified as an IYAF instructor in Japan, he is responsible for the design and operation of the children's Aikido program. Steve has 4 children practicing the art and is an ultra sound technologist. She has studied Kaze Arashi Ryu Kenjutsu and is one of the founding members of the study of aikido in London. She is responsible for weapons instruction and weapon programs at the Aiki Budo Centre.
