2009 Kokusai Budoin, IMAF All Japan Budo Exhibition
Tokyo, Japan
The 32nd Kokusai Budoin, IMAF All Japan Budo Exhibition was held in historic
Ikegami, Tokyo on April 19. Representatives of each division, shihan, senior, and
junior practitioners, demonstrated their arts in the auditorium at the Ikegami Kaikan.
The event opened at 10:30
with a keynote address by
IMAF
President
Yasuhisa
Tokugawa.
The morning schedule began
with Iaido, Kendo, and Karatedo. Following the mid-day
break, events continued with
Ryushin Jigen-ryu , Yagyu
Shingan-ryu Heijutsu, and
Sosuishi-ryu (Kobudo), Aikido,
as well as Embassy Judo Club
members (Nihon Jujutsu and
Judo) demonstrations.

Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido (RYA) 8th Anniversary
Tokyo, Japan
Sunday, 26 April Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido held a demonstration to celebrate its 8th
anniversary. The event was sponsored by chief instructors Roland Thompson, and
Michael Stuempel, and featured guest instructor Jacques Payette from Kyoto. Other
guests included John B. Gage and Christian Müller from the Embassy Judo Club in
Tokyo, who demonstrated Nage no Kata of Judo.

both Junior. and adult alike,
demonstrating basic and
advanced techniques, as
well as self-defense - what to
do if you are grabbed on the
street.

Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido 8th Anniversary
The open session gave everyone a chance to discover how
Aikido techniques work.

Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido 8th Anniversary
Roppongi Yoshinkan Aikido was established in August 2001.
RYA is registered with the All Japan Yoshinkai Aikido
Foundation and operates as a non-profit organization. The
aim of RYA is to foster the teaching and development of
Aikido. All instructors are certified with the Yoshinkai Aikido
Foundation and have received intensive training at the
Yoshinkan Aikido World Headquarters dojo in Shinjuku,
Tokyo.

2009 IMAF Kobudo Exhibition
The IMAF Kobudo exhibition is held annually on April 29th at
the Kameido Katori Jinja in Koto-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
Ryushin Jigen-ryu
This years’ events featured demonstrations of:
÷ Ryushin Jigen-ryu
÷ Yagyu Shingan-ryu
÷ Daiwa-ryu Yawara
÷ Tosa Eishin-ryu
÷ Sosuishi-ryu Kumi Uchi Koshi No Mawari
The Tosa Eishin-ryu demonstration included some very rare kata from the
Eishin-ryu Daisho Zume & Daiken Dori sets, which feature jujutsu
techniques.
Kohno Shihan's group demonstrated both Yagyu Shingan-ryu heijutsu, and
Daiwa-ryu Yawara.
Yahagi Shihan demonstrated both Ryushin Jigen-ryu, as well as Zen Nihon
Kendo Renmei kendo no kata.
Daiwa-ryu Yawara
Usuki Shihan’s Sosuishi-ryu group demonstrated various kumi uchi (jujutsu)
kata and also koshi no mawari (iai/ken jutsu)techniques.
