Members of the Administration and School Council have been attending Workshops in recent weeks in preparation for our commencement as an Independent Public School in 2015. This is an exciting time for everyone as we explore the possibilities and flexibilities offered to us. 2 Info Cohunu Info 3 Zoo Info 3 P and C 3 Class 2015 3 Leaving School A Message from the Principal 3 Community 4 Info Our last School Council Meeting will be held on November 18th commencing at 6:30pm. This will be an open meeting and therefore all interested parents/guardians are invited to attend. At this meeting we will have a short presentation about the roles and responsibilities of a School Board of an Independent Public School as well as a discussion with regards to the Board structure which relates to size and composition of Board membership. This is your opportunity to contribute to the development of our School Board as we move into functioning as an Independent Public School. It is fantastic to see our students wearing their new sunsmart hats at all times during the school day. Funds to purchase the initial set of school hats were provided by CSBP. The school community appreciates the support of CSBP through the $2000 sponsorship as we move towards becoming a Sunsmart school. Unfortunately this supply of a hat is a one off and any child who requires a new hat will be able to purchase it from the P&C Uniform committee. In our climate it is most important that people follow the Cancer Council’s message. The Slip Slop Slap slogan has become institutionalised as the core message of Cancer Council’s SunSmart program. The campaign is widely credited as playing a key role in the dramatic shift in sun protection attitudes and behaviour over the past two decades. In 2007, the slogan was updated to Slip Slop Slap Seek Slide to reflect the importance of seeking shade and sliding on wrap around sunglasses to prevent sun damage. We are looking forward to a academically productive and enjoyable term. If you are not returning to Cooloongup PS could you please advise the school office as soon as possible. If you know anyone who still needs to enrol their child for Kindy next year, we are still taking enrolments. We need to finalise our numbers by early December so let them know to call into the office as soon as possible. They will need to bring in their child's birth certificate and immunisation records and Proof of Address. If you know anyone who is moving into the area in 2015, they can enrol for next year too. They will also need birth certificate, immunisation and proof of address. LEAVING THE SCHOOL GROUNDS Children are not permitted to leave the school grounds at any time. Parents who wish to take their child out of school during the day must call at the office for a student release form. I.D. will need to be shown. This is a requirement by the Department of Education. Please knock on the classroom door and wait for the teacher when you visit the classroom as they may be in the middle of giving out instructions etc. These arrangements are for your child’s safety and for your peace of mind.
