Brenda D. Spencer
Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Brenda started working in the media at
the age of 15 selling the Call & Post newspaper in her neighborhood under
the leadership and guidance of Publishing legend, Amos H. Lynch, Sr. She
received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from Ohio
University in 1984 and started her career at NBC Affiliate WCMH-TV in
Columbus. In 1986, Brenda was recruited by Junior Achievement of Central
Ohio as the “First” African American Community Relations Director where she
was instrumental in the creation and production of the Central Ohio Business
Hall of Fame.
Brenda found her niche in Sales as a Account Executive for Sunrise
Broadcasting in 1993, generating over half a million dollars in the first year.
Brenda continued helping businesses advertise and market their products
and services for over 25 years at Scantland Broadcasting, Lynch
Communications, Blue Chip Broadcasting, Radio One, Urban Trendsetters
News Magazine and Who’s Who Publishing generating Millions of Dollars in
Revenue.
Brenda served a 5 year term as the “First” African American President for the
National Organization, American Women in Radio & Television (AWRT),
Buckeye Chapter (2000-2005). She is a published writer, has written and
produced hundreds of radio commercials, and is the creator of countless
advertising ideas, concepts and promotions for her clients. She produced
the Champions of Diversity Radio Show in 2011 & 2012, continues to serve as
the Chair & Event Coordinator for the Champions of Diversity Annual Awards
Recognition Program, sits on the Board of Directors for C. M. Grant
Leadership Academy, served as the Interim Sales Manager for the New
WVKO AM 1580 The Praise Gospel Radio Station and is the National Sales
Manager for Career Town Networks.
Brenda will publish her first book “Sell It Like It Is – A Training Guide for Rookie
& Veteran Sales People, Entrepreneurs and Business Owners in the fall of
2013.
Brenda created “Spencer 4Higher Media, LLC” in January 2010 and “Spencer
4Higher Education” in 2012. Today, she is one of the most sought after
“Advertising & Marketing Professionals”, offering services that include MultiCultural Advertising, Diversity & Inclusion, Freelance Sales, Sales Training,
Event Sponsorships, Publicity, Public Relations, Creative Writing, Talent
Bookings and Career Exploration for students in grades 3 -12.
