Making your Tea Cosy
1. Trim your stitching, leaving 2cm around the outside edge. Cut three pieces of blue felt and two pieces of wadding to the same
measurements. With the right side facing out, sandwich a piece of wadding between your stitching and one of the pieces of felt.
2. Hem the bottom edge by making a fold to the reverse, leaving about two aida blocks beyond the end of the stitching. Machine
stitch to secure. Sandwich your second piece of wadding between two pieces of felt and hem the bottom edge,
as you did before.
3. To make the chimney, you'll need to cut two pieces of light brown felt to measure 5.5 x6cm. Machine stitch around three of
the edges and turn right side out. Your
finished chimney should measure 3.5x5cm.
4. Pin the chimney in the middle of the top of your stitching so the raw edge of the chimney lines up with the raw edge of your
aida. Place the backing fabric on top, right sides together. Machine stitch along sides and top. Turn right side out.
Instant expert- French knots
Create chunky French knots by wrapping two strands of thread twice around your needle. For the more delicate cat and bird
eyes you'll only need to wrap one strand of thread twice around your needle. You'll be amazed at the difference!
