'lvlount Orive Lutheran SChoof Pastor Grunst: Head Master: A Few Short Sentences On November 19, 1863, Abraham Lincoln gave speech at Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg which was only ten sentences long. He said that "these dead shall not have died in vain - that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." This is known as the Gettysburg Address. This Address is quoted and repeated by many since that time. Freedom for the citizens of the United States of America is the focus and still needs to be treasured today. A few short sentences can be spoken by us as we prepare for the Annual Crusaders' Feast to be held at the Metra on February 7. Invite others to come and enjoy the feast. It only takes a few words but these words can go a long ways to celebrate this acti vity of our school. A few short words can also be used to invite others to consider attending our school. Word of mouth is still the most powerful invitation and incenti ve for others to participate in our school. A few short words is also what is used to encourage each other. Recently Henry Ford's words ring in my ears. "If you think you can or if you think you can't; you are right." We can do many things. A little effort, courage and confidence goes a long ways. We can work to make our school known in our * 'A C(assica( 'Acaaemy community by what I say. We can make the Annual Crusader Feast a fantastic event with a little effort. We can reflect on the fact the a few short words also have impacted our lives even though these were delivered on November 18, 1863. Carry these few short words with you today. The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord lift his countenance upon you and give you peace. Mr. Oxford: 5th - 7th Grade News: Wow I r can't believe the year is halfway over! \Ve have been very busy preparing for the speech meet and Crusader Feast. We are doing a sweetheart basket for the silent auction' Please send candy or other Valentine's Day related items. We will be taking the kids bowling on February 5th. More details will be coming. The students have been working hard in the classroom. \;Ve are starting book number 2 of Story of theworld. We will be starting Algebra in Math. Please continue to have the children read at home. Page 1 * 2na Qyarter 2014 \Ve are planning trips to the new li brary and will get the kids a li brary card if they don't have one. I am working on planning outings for P.E .. If you have any ideas, let me know, Mrs. Forke: 2nd & 3rd Grade News: The 3rd and 4th graders are a never ending source of adventure. Each day can find us seeking God's truth through scripture, exploring into the infinity of numbers, deciphering relati ve pronouns from demonstrative ones, engaging in battles with Romans and barbarians or experiencing the thrust of motion on the sledding hill. You can see dancing skeletons in our classroom. As we study God's amazing human body, we will learn some of the names of the 206 bones; flex a few muscles; awe at God's miraculous development of life from conception to birth; and be reminded of good hygiene and nutrition to keep our bodies healthy. You are welcome to join us in the classroom for any of these adventures in learning. Mrs. Berst: 1 st & 2nd Grade News: Another quarter has flown by. We did many fun activities preparing for Christmas. We were able to sing two different times for the afternoon church service. We also went caroling to several shut ins and sang many of our favorite Christmas carols. :J Mount O([ve Lutheran SChool "lie are getting excited for the upcoming Crusaders Feast. \Ve designed our own shields depicting our areas of study in school and then we hung them on the bulletin board. We have started bringing in the items for our room basket that will be auctioned off at the feast. This year our theme is "ice cream". V./e look forward to seeing you at the feast. The tournament will be held at Trinity Lutheran School located on 2802 Belvedere Drive, Billings, MT on Wednesday, January 29th. The event will run from 12:30 p.m. 2:20 p.m. Grades 3rd through 8th will be competing in memorized scripture, poetry, and historic or literary oration. Crusader Feast and Auction February 7 in the Metra Pavilion. Doors open at 6 P.M. Students will perform around 7 P.M.
