Sime Darby Property has a
history of strategic alliances
with a number of reputable
partners in the property
industry.
SP Setia Berhad
In June 2012, Sime Darby and SP
Setia Berhad were identified as the
preferred bidders to redevelop the
Battersea Power Station, a British
landmark located in the Vauxhall
Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity
Area in Southwest London. The
joint venture plans involve the
development of a sustainable
multi-use real estate regeneration
project while preserving the façade
of the historical power plant with
its iconic chimeny stacks. SP Setia
is a reputable property developer,
with products ranging from landed
properties to luxury condominiums
and commercial centres.
Capitamalls Asia Limited
In May 2012, CapitaMalls Asia and
Sime Darby Property entered into
a 50:50 joint venture to develop a
shopping mall in Melawati, Malaysia.
The mall will have a total net lettable
area (NLA) of approximately 635,000
square feet and a GDV of RM500
million. When completed in 2016,
the mall will serve a catchment
population of around 800,000 people
within a 10-minute drive. CapitaMalls
is Asia’s leading shopping mall
developer, owner and manager.
Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Berhad
Sime Darby became the single
largest shareholder in luxury lifestyle
property developer, Eastern &
Oriental Berhad (E&O) after acquiring
a strategic stake in the company in
August 2011. In this corporate deal,
the two companies signed a 3 year
collaboration agreement to leverage
on their respective strengths,
develop new product offerings, and
open new market opportunities
including international expansion.
E&O is a luxury property developer
whose diverse portfolio includes
modern city condominiums, signature
restaurants and prime residential
neighbourhoods.
Sunrise Berhad
In January 2010, Sime Darby
Property entered into a joint venture
with Sunrise Berhad, to develop a
commercial project totaling 20.95
acres in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam,
Malaysia over a seven year period.
With an estimated GDV of
RM1 billion, the proposed
development will comprise
integrated retail, shop offices, office
suites and service apartments with
a total gross built-up area of 2.7
million square feet. Sunrise is an
award-winning property developer in
Malaysia.
Brunsfield Group
Sime Darby Property and the
Brunsfield Group formed a strategic
partnership in 2006 to jointly develop
Subang Avenue, a RM250 million
upmarket retail area in Subang
Jaya, Malaysia. Other joint venture
projects in Malaysia include the
RM550 million Oasis Serviced Suites
in Ara Damansara and Kenny Hills
Residence, a low density luxury
condo development in the exclusive
Bukit Tunku neighbourhood. The
Brunsfield Group is a construction
and information and communications
technology-based developer.
