TINA`S CHILD CARE FOUNDATION
The center was established by Travel Active coordinator Tina Duah and a Swedish ex volunteer called Lina
Bergstrom. A widow gathered some childrens and children of mad women into her home. She looked after
the children for a year but due to financial constraints she appealed to Tina Duah to take over and take
care of the poor children. Tina with the support of Lina rented a house and brought the children into the
house. The children were officially brought into the rented premise on the 6th of November 2013. The
children are 24 in number and are between 3 and 10 years old. The children are financially taken care of

YULIM CHILDREN’S HOME
This children’s home in the north of Ghana was founded in 2010 by a pastor. It is now home to 18 children
with ages between 2-9 years. The children now have their own house by the support of some volunteers
from The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Norway and Sweden.

• Help in bathing the younger children.
• To play with them.
• Help in washing their plates and clothes.

NABARI CHILD CARE
This very poor children’s home is located in the
northern part of Ghana. More than 40 children are
living in the children’s home under very basic living
conditions. The staff is struggling with very limited
resources to feed, clothe and educate the children.
The help of volunteers is very important as the children need individual love and attention. It is in your
role as a volunteer to spend time with the children,
educate them, play with them and put a big smile
on their faces!
TIMATAABA CHILDREN’S HOME
The Timataaba orphanage is an orphanage in northern Ghana, near the border with Burkina Faso. The
home houses 24 children in the age of 4 to 12 years old. The house consists of a room for children, a room
for the caregivers and a hall which is shared with the other residents of the compound, but is available to
enter. The majority of life takes place in the courtyard of the compound. During the day it is the duty of
the volunteer to keep the kids busy, but mainly to take tasks out of the hands of the bosses. This could include washing of clothes, cooking dinner, sweeping the compound and / or clean up, or go to the market.
If the children have holiday (end of July), there is the opportunity to teach also. There are textbooks and
other materials as notebooks bought, so a volunteer can get started right away. Furthermore, the children
find it quite nice when things are organised for them as a surprise. One can think of organizing a football
tournament, or paint the nails of the children (even the boys!) is also a great experience for the kids. It is
important for these children that a volunteer takes initiative and is creative. Especially the little things are
of great value because there is literally nothing for the children.
VOLUNTEER DUTIES
• Bathing the little children.
• Washing their clothing.
• Helping them to cook.
• Sweeping the rooms and also the compound.
• Helping them to do their homework or exercises from school.
• Cooking for them when they are in school.
• Playing games with them. e.g. Football, skipping, running etc.
