Hettich Group headquarters are based
in Ostwestfalen-Lippe – right at the heart
of the German kitchen furniture
industry. We develop and produce
technology for furniture and are a
dedicated source of inspiration for the
industry. Because fittings are the key to
making trends real, they bring furniture to life.
Products from Hettich are found throughout the
home, in furniture and in domestic appliances.
Many functions that are taken for granted today
were developed by Hettich. You‘ll find Hettich
products, like drawers, hinges and sliding doors, in
the kitchens of many well known manufacturers.
This magazine is designed to help you plan your
kitchen intelligently so that in the future you
can cook as ergonomically and conveniently as
possible while minimising the time it takes. It
also gives you an up to the minute snapshot
of the new kitchen trends – to put you in the
picture and inspire you!
We want your kitchen to bring you one thing
in particular; Pleasure, but what are the new
materials? Which new functions could be of help
in everyday kitchen routine? What do you need to
bear in mind when planning your kitchen? This
magazine gives you the answers.
We wish you some enjoyable reading and hope
your kitchen brings you lasting pleasure!

kitchen mile, which takes place every year
along the A30 motorway, and at “EuroCucina”
in Milan where the whole kitchen world meets
up every two years. There‘s a diverse choice of
surface finishes, kitchen architecture is vibrant,
and functions are getting smarter all the time.
Be in for a surprise!

Surface finishes
Timbers
Wood and imitation wood finishes dominate
kitchen design. Imitations are becoming more
and more natural: with knots and bold graining
that can extend across the entire kitchen, and
feel natural to touch. Oak remains a favourite.
In many cases, dark timbers, like plane, are combined with dark green or black. One fascinating
mix comes in the form of wood paired with
ceramics.

Clear statements
White is still a big number for surfaces.
Colour shades are taking on even greater
purity and clarity.

Lush green, saffron and russet make
colour statements. But pastel shades are
also adding a touch of charm and subtlety.

Architecture
Kitchen and living room
A new homeliness is moving into rooms that
tend to serve more of a practical purpose,
like the kitchen: with materials and designs
that merge with the living room.

Architecture
Shelves with pizzazz
The classic kitchen block is loosened up
with offset shelf elements, often in jazzy
colours.
Sliding doors
Sliding doors are finding their way into the
kitchen. They bring large, flat surfaces to
wall, base and tall units as well as to midway
sections.

Intelligent functions
Convenient sliding doors
Sliding doors impress with a functionality
that not only saves space but is ergonomic
too: floating, smooth running action, silent
closing, full access to cabinet contents and
no door standing in the way.
InLine S sliding door fitting
The flush fitted sliding door system brings
purist design to wall and base units.
· Unrestricted access to everything inside
· Discreetly concealed working components
SlideLine M sliding door fitting

The handleless look is still right
on trend. The Push to open

level of practical convenience.

on the door‘s leading edge
· Impressively smooth running action

Thanks to the Sensys hinge
with integrated Silent System,
loudly banging doors are a
thing of the past.
Sensys hinges
The invisibly integrated Silent System
on the Sensys hinge impresses with
its outstanding performance. It makes
sure that doors close gently and quietly, doing so almost by themselves
because the exceptionally wide closing
angle reliably pulls the door closed.
The Sensys wide-angle hinge gives
furniture doors a wide opening angle
and closes them evenly and gently.
It has received the Red Dot Award
“Product Design 2014” and the
iF Product Design Award 2014.
Fitted with the Sensys thick door hinge,
even extremely thick furniture doors
close smoothly, gently and silently.
This version left the iF Design Award
jury in no doubt either.

A light press on the front is all it takes
for the Push to open function to open
the drawer almost by itself. Closing
softly and gently in response to a nudge.
The prestigious iF Design Award has
now been going to outstanding design
achievements for over six decades. Just
like the Red Dot Award which has
become established as an internationally acknowledged quality seal. Hettich
impressed the juries with two versions
of the Sensys hinge and Push to open
Silent function for ArciTech.

Push to open Silent for ArciTech
The all mechanical principle of
Push to open Silent for ArciTech
drawers opens the drawer all by itself and closes it softly and gently.
The opening force, triggering sensitivity and front panel gap can be
adjusted. This function can be added
at a later date without having to
modify the drawer. The function has
won the iF Product Design Award 2014
and been nominated for the German
Design Award 2015.

“Intelligent Kitchens”:
the intelligent way to plan kitchens
A kitchen can be many things: modern or
traditional, functional or homely, opulent or
plain. But one thing it should be: intelligent.
In other words: a kitchen should be well
thought through and perfectly organised. In an
intelligent kitchen, you can save a lot of time
and work while cooking and doing other jobs.
You can make optimum use of available storage space and keep everything in easy reach.
And you can look after your health.
the clever use of storage space. Practical pullouts for wall and base units work wonders.
Everything in its place
A well organised kitchen is more of a pleasure
and less stressful to work in. Keep the important
things where they‘re needed. Use intelligent
organisational solutions for drawers and pullouts. This way, you can store your provisions
and utensils efficiently and conveniently.
The three key aspects
When planning and buying a new kitchen, pay
attention to these three aspects in particular:
• short distances
• ergonomics
• cleverly organised cabinet interiors
“Intelligent Kitchens”
works no matter what
the kitchen‘s geometry.
Discover how on the next
double page spread.
Hettich, the specialist in innovative hardware,
provides valuable ideas and suggestions for
intelligent kitchen planning in its „Intelligent
Kitchens“ guide.
Short distances
The “Intelligent Kitchens” guide organises a kitchen into five activity areas. Planning a kitchen
on the basis of this concept provides a host of
benefits: going about your everyday work in the
kitchen, you benefit from short distances and
efficient, ergonomic work flows.
Working the healthy, ergonomic way
“Intelligent Kitchens” helps you to organise
your kitchen in a way that makes ergonomic
sense. That takes the burden off you and is
good for your health. This includes a worktop
height matched to the individual just as it does

your kitchen right
Activity areas

storage
Every kitchen layout is different because it has to follow the space situation. But
whether galley, L shape or island – any shape can be configured and built intelligently.
What does your dream kitchen look like? What
kitchen shape do you prefer? Whatever you go
for – it‘s worthwhile planning a kitchen‘s practical aspects carefully. Organising it into five,
logically arranged activity areas will noticeably
take the effort out of routine kitchen work.
With short distances, smooth workflows and
less physical exertion.

How can you make the “Intelligent Kitchens”
concept work for your shape of kitchen? The

This check list shows you just how logically “Intelligent Kitchens” works.
And how intelligent is your kitchen? Do the test.

The five activity areas are one of the key principles behind “Intelligent Kitchens”: you should
always keep dishes, food etc. closely together in the clearly defined kitchen zone. This avoids
having to walk unnecessary distances and saves the bother of searching.
