Pulling together our research into the factual histories of real teachers and school children in South-East London, we invite you to an immersive classroom experience with Dr. Charles Maddock Stuart, a former headmaster of local school St. Dunstan’s College. As a “pupil” your formal lesson will be approximately half an hour, followed by thirty minutes of facilitated discussion in which attendees may ask questions or offer their thoughts on the classroom experience itself and reflections on the Great War in general, particularly how it impacted on children of school age and their families. Businesses taking part include My Front Room, The Lovely Gallery, The Beer Rebellion, On the Hoof Bistro, Cherry and Ice, Kente Coffee Shop, the Sydenham Pop-up Shop, Gurkhas and Brown & Green Café in Mayow Park. The Artists Trail has three main “clusters” of open houses: in Venner Road, Sydenham Road and Tannsfeld Road; the Thorpes and Adamsrill Road; and Hyndewood and Dacres Road. This year there are more group exhibitions: old favourites the Brockley Potters will be at Normanton Street Methodist Church on the first weekend with Adult Learning Lewisham the second weekend; the Perry Rise art group are at Perry Rise Baptist Church on both Saturdays; and nine artists, including printmakers, jewellers, photographers and woodcarvers will be showing at Dacres Wood Nature Reserve and Field Centre on both weekends. Don't miss the Sellotape Sculpture and Beyond exhibition by home-educated and schooled children - the next generation of Sydenham Artists. n 1 BOTH WEEKENDS & BOTH THURS & FRI 12-6PM 140 Sydenham Road SE26 5JZ 2 BOTH WEEKENDS & PUB HOURS The Beer Rebellion 167 Sydenham Road SE26 5HB Steps up to and inside Disabled access THE LOVELY GALLERY KEITH ARNOLD SHAUN HARRIGAN OPEN EXHIBITION LIGHT FEATURES WITH NEON FLEX PAINTING A summer exhibtion of art.
