Dear Stitchers, 2014 has burst on the scene with much excitement and anticipation of a year filled with great stitching. Needle House has been bustling with activity with the new It's Delicious Series kicking off and new items arriving from market every day. We were excited to see new things from all of our favorite artists, including Melissa Shirley, Rebecca Wood, and Debbie Mum each with the addition of spectacular Thanksgiving offerings. Kathy Shenkel has created some fanciful popsicles that will be so much fun to collect and stitch. John Johannsen introduced many new inspiring items including a pig settled among beautiful flowers and watermelon ~ you have to see him to believe him! Amanda Lawford introduced a fabulous new 30" Santa surrounded by animals. New beginner kits that will appeal to the youngest stitcher as well as teens have arrived at Needle House. And, we discovered some new talent including several that have joined The Artist's Collection. All this along with new and beautiful colors in many of our thread lines. The new year is always refreshing and renewing and I experienced this myself as I saw my eldest granddaughter, Emily, settle into her Freshman Year in college in the same week that my granddaughter, Meena, picked up a needle and I helped her begin her first needlepoint project! It is always thrilling to see how each New Year opens our eyes to exciting adventures! Take a moment to see what we have in store for you at Needle House in 2014! Happy Stitching P a g e F r o m t h e 2 B o o k s h e l f Carol Lake and Michael Boren have created a wonderful stitcher's resource for us in their new book Painted Canvas Embellishment: An Idea Book. Detailed stitch diagrams, including mirror images of many directional stitches, are categorized by areas and elements including clothing, leaves, and wings. The first section of this book offers information on a plethora of thread choices and will prove to be most helpful when determining which thread you may want to chose. You will want to add this book to your shelf most definitely! B a s k e t w e a v e C l a s s Basketweave is the queen of all needlepoint stitches.
