Creating a Generation of Lifesavers InvitationBrochure
CREATING A GENERATION OF LIFE SAVERS A national conference to discuss and promote the teaching of life-saving resuscitation skills in schools Friday 26th February 2016 Royal College of Physicians, Regent’s Park, London There is good evidence that the provision of resuscitation training in schools is associated with increased rates of bystander CPR and improved survival after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The aim of this national conference is to bring together all those with an interest or involvement in educational initiatives to provide training in CPR and AED awareness in schools. The intention is to share best practice, network, inspire and be inspired, and to promote a national conversation about how to emulate in the UK the improved cardiac arrest survival that has been achieved elsewhere. The conference is targeted at healthcare professionals, educators, researchers, policy makers and others with an interest in the topic. A high level of interest is anticipated and places are limited. w.millbroo ww ces.co. ren u fe dical-co n me k REGISTER ONLINE NOW! k Organising Secretariat: Millbrook Medical Conferences Ltd Telephone 01455 552559 Email [email protected] www.millbrook-medical-conferences.co.uk CREATING A GENERATION OF LIFE SAVERS Friday 26th February 2016 Royal College of Physicians, Regent’s Park, London PROGRAMME 09:15 Registration opens 09:45-11:15 SESSION ONE: SETTING THE SCENE 09:45-09:50 Opening address William Toff 09:50-10:10 Defining the problem – what’s the problem? 10:10-10:30 Educational initiatives to improve OHCA survival: The Danish Experience Freddy Lippert 10:30-11:00 Survivor and their Rescuer stories 11:00-11:30 Refreshments and visit the Exhibition 11:30-13:15 SESSION TWO: UK EXPERIENCE AND POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS Saving Londoners’ Lives a St John Ambulance London Schools’ Project North West Ambulance Service The Leicestershire Heartsafe Schools Programme BHF ‘Call Push Rescue’ Programme Arrhythmia Alliance Teachers/ pupils perspective Medical students as trainers (BUCA) 12:30Bringing resuscitation training into schools: A political perspective Mary Smith Sara Harris/Andy Redgrave Doug Skehan/William Toff Trudie Lobban Rafail Kotronias Teresa Pearce MP Including comments from Ofsted and the Department of Education 13:15 Lunch and visit the Exhibition 14:15-16:30 SESSION THREE: IMPROVING (AND MONITORING) OUTCOMES Implementing a school programme: The Stavanger Experience New resuscitation guidelines 2015 Carl Gwinnutt What should we teach and when?
