You will notice students from our Confirmation classes at several masses on the weekend or at parish events. They are participating in their Community Service component of our Confirmation program. Getting them involved in parish ministries helps us to prepare for the present and future of the Church. I hope you will make the students feel welcome and affirmed in their effort to exercise their gifts and talents. 1st year & 2nd year Confirmation students will be attending the “Day of the Spirit” on Sunday, Sept. 11th. Please pray for them! “…we recognize the sacredness of human life, the unity of the body and soul, and each individual’s relationship with the Creator. In living out this covenantal relationship, we discover that we are our “brother’s keeper” (Gen. 4:9). We discover that good sentiment alone is not enough; our feelings of charity must be accompanied by acts of charity, physically building a civilization of love one life at a time.” Living the Works of Mercy, Daring Teens to Change the World by Ellen P. Cavanaugh Altar Bread and Wine If you would like to make a donation for the Bread and Wine in memory of a family member or friend, please stop by the Parish officeduring office hours. An acknowledgement of your memorial will appear in the Sunday Bulletin. The suggested donation is $50 dollars. Please support our Advertiser of the Week... 3 Songs for the 5 p.m., 8 a.m., & 10 a.m. Gathering Song: Table of Plenty Come to the feast of heaven and earth! Come to the table of plenty! God will provide for all that we need, here at the table of plenty. O come and sit at my table where saints and sinners are friends. I wait to welcome the lost and lonely to share the cup of my love. O come and eat without money; come to drink without price. My feast of gladness will feed your spirit with faith and fullness of life. © 1992, Daniel L. Schutte. Published by OCP Publications. Your presence all around them, the just proclaim your glory; Laughing, dancing, singing, they revel in your story. O let us sing our praises! God’s name inspire our song, for God is ever near us, let our praise be loud and long. A parent to the orphan, the widow’s strong defender, this is how our God is, both terrible and tender. With mercy for the lowly, God builds for them a home, to lead them into freedom in a land to call their own. Upon a thirsty nation, you rained refreshing rain, and when your own were starving, you gave them life again. So where there once was nothing, a nation formed and grew; a home at last, a country vast the poor received from you. Text: Psalm 68: 4-5, 6-7, 10-11: Rory Cooney, © 1991, GIA Publications, Inc. refrain trans. © 1969, ICEL Music: Rory Cooney, © 1991, GIA Publications, Inc. Presentation Song: The Cry of the Poor The Lord hears the cry of the poor. Blessed be the Lord. I will bless the Lord at all times, with praise ever in my mouth. Let my soul glory in the Lord, who will hear the cry of the poor. Let the lowly hear and be glad: the Lord listens to their pleas; And to hearts broken God is near, who will hear the cry of the poor. Ev’ry spirit crushed God will save; will be ransom for their lives; Will be safe shelter for their fears, and will hear the cry of the poor. Text: Psalm 34:2-3, 6-7, 18-19, 23; John Foley, SJ Music: John Foley, SJ © 1978, 1990, John B. Foley, SJ and New Dawn Music Communion Song: Blest Are They Blest are they, the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom of God. Blest are they, full of sorrow, they shall be consoled. Rejoice and be glad! Blessed are you, holy are you! Rejoice and be glad! Yours is the Kingdom of God! Blest are they, the lowly ones, they shall inherit the earth. Blest are they, who hunger and thirst, they shall have their fill. Blest are they who show mercy, mercy shall be theirs. Blest are they, the pure of heart, they shall see God. Blest are they who seek peace, they are the children of God. Blest are they who suffer in faith, the glory of God is theirs. Blest are you who suffer hate, all because of me. Rejoice and be glad, yours is the kingdom; shine for all to see. Text: Matthew 5: 3-12; David Haas, b. 1957 Tune: David Haas, b. 1957;vocal arr. by David Haas, b. 1957, Michael Joncas, b. 1951 © 1985, GIA Publications, Inc. Closing Song: Glory and Praise to Our God Glory and praise to our God, who alone gives light to our days. Many are the blessings he bears to those who trust in his ways. We, the daughters and sons of him who built the valleys and plains, Praise the wonders our God has done in ev‘ry heart that sings. Ev’ry moment of ev’ry day our God is waiting to save, Always ready to seek the lost, to answer those who pray. We will be selling raffle tickets before and after all the masses on the weekends of September 24 – 25 and October 1 – 2. Outreach / Opción Misionera The Bread and Wine for this week has been donated in Loving Memory of George Clark Church of the Holy Spirit is on Social Media! Facebook.com/CHSSchaumburg Twitter.com/CHSSchaumburg YouTube.com/CHSSchaumburg Catechetical Sunday 7 September 18, 2016 This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 18, 2016 and will focus on the theme "Prayer: The Faith Prayed." Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. HEALING GRACE Grief Support Ministry When a death occurs, life for those who live on, changes forever. We recognize this change and would like to offer hope and comfort to those who mourn. In trying to move on after the death of a loved one, some wonder when the pain will go away, or if it ever will. Some wonder where life is headed. Understanding the commonalities of the grief journey can help us to heal and move on. We are beginning a new Grief Support Ministry here in the parish. “Healing Grace” is a six-session series that will be facilitated by Linda Engle and Charlene Kryszak. The meetings will take place on September 14th & 18th, October 12th & 26th and November 9th and 30th from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Please call Sister Marianne at 847-882-7580 or e-mail: [email protected] to reserve your spot. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven; and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life who proceeds from the Father and the Son. who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified. who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic, apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
