Busy, busy, busy, as all are in the gymnastics world .
MS USAG hosted four meets - All American Rock ‘n’
Roll Challenge, Tis the Split Season, Spring State
Championships, and Level 9/10 Regionals. For all of
you that were directly involved in the planning and
production of these meets,
as State Administrative
Committee Chair, I sincerely thank you. For those
who have hosted a meet and have been involved with
the off-site meets at the BancorpSouth Arena, one
knows how many hours of planning and work is involved. The three days on site
is only the tip of the iceberg.
From equipment set-up to equipment tear-down, it
takes many dedicated people to insure that the gymnasts, coaches, and parents are afforded a first-class,
quality meet. I will not attempt to name the many
people that work so diligently to make sure this happens. You know who you are. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hall of Fame Inductee
Congratulations to Audrey Whittington, MS USAG 2007 Hall
of Fame Inductee. Aubrey,
owner of Outer Limits Gymnastics in Greenwood, is the
smiling face that enters
every meet, ready to help
even if she has just had ten
cortisone injections in order
to be able to move and walk.
Aubrey’s life is amazing. She is an
unbelievably busy woman, but she
wouldn’t have it any other way. Aubrey is the wife of Billy and the
mother of six children and a multitude of grandchildren.
“I’ve just had ten
cortisone
injections. I am
ready to work.”
Aubrey has taught aerobics, yoga, body
sculpting, and spinning classes and
also teaches gymnastics and dance.
She started the first dance and gymnastics team in Greenwood called
Warehouse Gymnastics. For twelve
years, Aubrey did Speech Therapy for
the Head Start programs in Leflore
County. She started and has been a
charter member of the Humane Society for the past thirty seven years. Aubrey is very active in the theatre and
has directed children’s theatre. Aubrey
danced and acted in professional theatre in Texas. She taught theatrical
school in Houston and Ft. Worth, Texas.
Aubrey has done the Nutcracker Ballet
several times, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland (with glow in the dark costumes), Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella,
constructs the sets for the stage and has
made thousands of costumes for the
productions.

Aubrey just says, “I enjoy doing it all – I am compulsive and excessive. I thrive on it and I have
worked for as long as I can remember. I have to be
doing something and I don’t drink coffee. Imagine
what I would be like if I did? HA, HA!” Also, Aubrey has a huge indoor playground where she
hosts birthday parties. It has four fantasy rooms
where she does the birthday cake and party favors
herself. She decorates with cut out plywood,
strobe
lights etc.
Whatever
the theme
is she
makes it
work.
“I enjoy doing it all
– I am compulsive
and excessive. I
thrive on it and I
have worked for as
long as I can
remember…”
MS USAG is indeed honored and
proud to have Aubrey as a member of
the gymnastics community. Congratulations, Aubrey. You are a role
model.
June 1, 2007
Dear Nancy & Board Members,
What a fabulous evening for my family &
me. We had such a great time. I am still
overwhelmed! This will be the memory of
my life. The food was delicious, Eddie’s
songs were totally unexpected - what a
beautiful voice and the flowers are on my
table with my award for all to see.
Hope your surgery goes well. By August
we should all in in tip top shape! Yeah.
Thank you again & get ready I’m coming
back!
Much love,
Aubrey

2007 Coach of the Year
“ Terry accepted
the State TOPS
manager position
in 2007.”
Terry Musial was a Class I competitive
gymnast for ten years in the state of Ohio.
She received a scholarship to Eastern
Michigan University, but an ACL injury
sidelined her career. As she pursued her
career in physical therapy, she began
coaching to stay in the sport. After graduating from college, Terry moved to the
Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1990. She continued coaching at Emerald Coast Gymnastics, levels 4-10, where she produced
numerous state champions, regional
qualifiers and two national qualifiers.
When Emerald Coast closed it’s doors, she
continued coaching at Lanier’s Gymnastics in Gulfport, MS working with levels 7-10. In 2003, Terry, along with business partner/coach Cynthia Dedeaux, opened The Brook-Lin Center for Gymnastics and Dance
in Pass Christian, MS. In the gym’s first competitive season the level 7's won the State
Championships. She also had two level 9 regional qualifiers, with one winning the silver medal on floor exercise and the other the silver medal on bars. From 2004-2007,
Terry has coached levels 8-10 to regional and national championships. In 2006, Terry
had a ten year old TOPS athlete qualify to the National TOPS B camp and an 8 year old
TOPS athlete make the
silver team. Terry accepted the State TOPS
manager position in
2007. Terry coaches
levels 1-10 and in 2007
produced levels 2, 4,
and 7 Team State
Champions. She has
had two athletes receive collage scholarships, one at University of Alabama and
just recently a level 10
gymnast is continuing
her gymnastics career
at West Virginia University.
