Happy summer!
Summer is always my favorite season in Las Vegas. I love the heat! It
sounds crazy! My kids and I love longer daylight hours, so we can spend
more time in the pool and on the golf course. Our patients enjoy lots of fun

me all the wonderful stories you had during your vacation!

I would like to remind you all to still protect your orthodontic appliances while you enjoy your summer vacation. Some patients tend to be too
relaxed on what and how to eat the food, since you are in the "vacation
mood" and forgot all the golden rules about protecting your orthodontic
appliances. RULE OF THUMB: CUT ALL FOOD INTO SMALL SLICES and
Avoid Sticky, Chewy, Crunchy and Hard Foods. Some patients also lose
their retainers during vacation time. If you are on vacation for less than a
week, I would rather you not bring your retainers if you know you misplace
them all the time. Please still wear your retainers faithfully when you come
back. However, if you will be gone more than one week, please bring your
retainers and take excellent care of them.
I am very thankful to have amazing patients like you with my practice.
Thank you for giving me an opportunity to provide exceptional orthodontic
care for you and your family. Our goal is to give all of our patients
a Fabulous Superstar Smile! You guys are Superstars! We appreciate you
and all your referrals to our practices. Don't miss out on our Patient Appreciation Move Day at Red Rock Regal Cinema at 9:00 am, August 15th.
Please be sure to join us and bring some of your BFFs with you. There will
be lots fun pictures taken and great raffle prizes to give away. We love
great patients like you! Please tell all your friends and family about us if
they ever need braces or Invisalign to have a Fabulous Superstar Smile. You
will be rewarded by entering a raffle to win an iPad Mini!

could put my braces back on with them I would do it all

Ingredients
3/4 cup Butter, softened
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup White Sugar
1 Egg
1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
1 1/4 cup Red Velvet Cake Mix (dry)
1 1/4 cup All Purpose Flour
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 1/2 cup White Chocolate Chips, divided
Instructions
1.
In a bowl or stand mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white
sugar until creamy and smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla to combine. Lastly, add the cake mix, flour, and baking soda until a soft dough has formed. Stir
in one cup of white chocolate chips.
2.
Chill the dough for a minimum of 2 hours, overnight if possible. This prevents
the dough from spreading and becoming too flat during baking.
3.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with foil or spray lightly with
cooking spray. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the sheet, keeping
them approximately 2” apart. Bake for 9-11 minutes, rotating the pan halfway
through to ensure even cooking. Cookies may appear slightly underdone, but
do not overcook. Cookies will continue to set as they cool.
4.
If you’d like, place some extra white chocolate chips on top of the cookies for
added sweetness or for looks. Allow the pan to cool before serving.
Prep Time: 2 hrs.
Cook Time: 11 min.

What’s the Big Deal About Baby Teeth?
1.
2.
3.
Cavities are a sign of a bacterial infection. That’s right, cavities are primarily
caused by bacteria (as well as sugar and time- but we will save that discussion
for another day). That means that if cavities are left in the mouth, essentially
what is persisting is a festering infection of the teeth and mouth. Gross, right?
The Spread of infection can be harmful or dangerous. Have you ever
thought of cavities as dangerous? The truth is, long standing cavities in the
mouth can lead to a more serious infection. When this infection is not addressed
it can at times lead to a swelling of the jaw or face. When this happens, the
airway can become compromised and affect a patient’s breathing. This is a
serious and potentially life threatening situation. Less severe is the possibility
that long-standing cavities can lead to cavities in other teeth in the mouth.
Damage to permanent teeth. Just underneath your child’s baby teeth are
immature and developing permanent teeth. These teeth are quite sensitive to
infection and trauma, which can be propagated through cavities or trauma to the
baby teeth. This can lead to defects of the structure of the permanent teeth,
making them more prone to cavities or esthetically abnormal.
This is not a comprehensive list of the reasons to actively treat problems in your
child’s teeth but surely gives a few good reasons to visit your pediatric dentist soon!

One thing pediatric dentists hear a lot (maybe a bit too often) is “Why do we need to
treat my child’s cavities right now? Aren’t those teeth just going to fall out?”. While it
is true that baby teeth (called primary teeth by the dental community) will eventually
fall out, there are very real consequences to cavities in these teeth that should be
addressed. If you are curious as to why baby teeth are considered so important, read
on for a basic list.
