BETTER OUTCOME for the BASIN [BOB] REQUIRED:
NB: In each point, the expanded information pertaining to these points is on the website NoWaterNoVote.com
Remove all reference to international instruments in the Water Act (2007) [The Act]
It is these instruments that firstly, delivered the Commonwealth Government a say in water policy.
Consequently, the Act has put birds before people of (legal) necessity, and has caused
mismanagement of waterways in the Basin affecting not only people, but resulting in dead fish and
trees, and erosion of river-banks in the name of “the environment” it was supposed to save!
1
The Water Act, in reflecting irresponsible lobbying and a lack of understanding by professed experts
about what was otherwise world-acclaimed water management, made the flawed assertion that too
much water had been extracted for production, and it was damaging the environment. This
antagonistic action set up a contrived argument that Agriculture was actually against the
Environment, when in fact, nothing could be further from the truth.
2
Build More Dams – A Practical Water Harvest & Conservation program
Water for People, Production, and the Planet. Stop pitting Agriculture against the Environment to
divide and conquer: Agriculture NEEDS the Environment, and NURTURES it by necessity.
3
Stop Acquiring Productive Water (ie buybacks)
- In “Yes Minister” terms, the solution has become the problem which now needs a solution!
4
Correct the Corrupt Water Market
Government intervention in the Water market has corrupted the market [which]... has no relevance
to the physical properties of water. E.g. Water runs downhill, so water in SA should not be able to
be traded (inter-valley) for say, MIA water, because it cannot physically run “uphill”. It is a “paper
trade” ... the money being made by speculators.
5
Make more water available to irrigators for production and ultimately, Australia's Food
Security.
Australian farmers and irrigators, after all, are recognised as the most efficient in the world, contrary
to myths pedalled by ill-informed “scientists” and/or “environmentalists” peddalling particular
agendas. As per point 2, we actually have plenty of water if it is harvested prudently. Basin
Communities need an assured, secure and reliable water supply to remain viable, and to provide for
the eco-systems and wild-life habitats maintained on their own properties.
6
Fix the Coorong – Stop the Lies. South Australian Governments have lied to their people, as
have successive Federal governments, blaming irrigators upstream of SA for taking water that is
“rightfully theirs” and required to flush the Coorong and Lower Lakes into the sea with fresh water.
..... Salinity can be corrected, the Lakes maintained, and Adelaide's water preserved.

Stop Environmental Vandalism: Practical Solutions Not Political Double-Dealing
The MDBA, dictated to by the Water Act, have bought, or taken water out of the system to send
“environmental water”down to the ocean mouth, into (Ramsar identified) wetlands, and for “over
[river] bank watering” to comply with Ramsar and other international treaties. However, their
“scientific modelling”and subsequent Constraints management plans (ie how to get the
environmental water down the rivers to the mouth) failed to pick up that it simply wasn't possible.
Old trees which have survived hundreds of years of floods and droughts, couldn't survive the
combined assault of “scientists”, “environmentalists” and the MDB Plan!
8
Secure an Apology from Governments for Stealing Equity via Immoral Legislation
Governments (ALP & LNP with Greens co-operation) have imposed the MDBA's Plan on regional
people, based on faulty modelling and mis-information. The effects have been:
• less water, less production, less jobs; more stress, more interest, more foreclosures
• householders, farms and businesses had the equity in their assets cut by 50% almost overnight
- which meant bank foreclosures or pressure on many, and with that, job losses, school cuts,
and sadly even suicides. Consultations were a farce. NO-ONE HAS TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR
THIS.
Currently Rice Mills are scaling down, jobs have been lost, and people are once again thrown into
confusion about their future – all as a continuing result of the MDB Plan and the water taken out of
the system
9
Job Creation & Security i.e. Profitable Business
Support the EXISTING Economy: It is impossible to “build”a “new” economy by destroying the
existing economy. We need a return to a situation where Producers and Businesses are free of BAD
Government policy, in order to be viable, expand, and create jobs.

BETTER OUTCOME for the BASIN [BOB] REQUIRED:
Recognise that the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area [MIA] was purpose-built to provide food
security, and the Snowy Mountain Hydro Scheme (Snowy Hydro) is one of the great wonders of the
world. We need this type of VISION again, to build dams to harvest and conserve water for an
increasing population. This vision should extend to recognising that prior to the Snowy Hydro, even
in drought when the rivers ran dry, Lake Alexandrina didn't, because of the oceanic tidal flows. Now,
because of the Snowy Hydro, the rivers DON’T run dry. The VISION needs to include more purposebuilt irrigation areas, to encourage enterprise, jobs, production, food security, and sustainable,
practical environmental outcomes.
I am serious about fixing the Basin water issues, and pledge that should I be elected and not be
successful in getting support and legislation enacted for the abovementioned Better Outcome for
the Basin [BOB], I agree to resign in 12 months time (i.e. 30th June 2017). I understand the urgency,
and the damage which has been done in Basin communities, and will do my utmost to serve the
PEOPLE in my electorate, putting them before my/any PARTY
