This guide will show you
how to set up Sony Blu-ray
players using IP Control.
Introduction
The SONY Blu-ray IP Control device allows you to control Sony
Blu-ray players.
This guide will show you how to set up the control for the Bluray player using the Sony Media Remote App, Import the
Device into the builder software, and setup the HTTP gateway.
You will also be introduced to WOL or Wake-On-LAN.

How long will it take?
Following the step-by-step instructions in the guide should only
take you about 15 to 30 minutes. You will need to use the Sony
IP Media Remote App to set up your smart device to control the
BD players. Then you will be able to switch over to the Builder
software and the iRule app.

Sony Blu-ray IP Device Control Setup
Step 1. Network Settings
Using the Blu-ray remote
control navigate to the left
to the Settings menu.
Scroll down and select
Network Settings
Step 2. Device
Registration
In Network Settings, scroll
down to BD Remote Device
Registration, but don't
select it yet.
Step 3.
Download the “Media
Remote for iPhone or
Android” app from the App
Store or Google Play.
Once you open the App it
will search for controllable
devices.
Step 4.Device Detection
Now, select Remote
Device Registration. This
will search the network for
devices that can control
the Blu-ray Player.
Step 6. Complete
Once you have completed
the process, it must be
repeated for each device
that you will using iRule to
control the BD player
Step 5. External Access
Once the Device
Registration process is
complete, you'll be able to
control the BD player with
the Media Remote. This
also means that once we
do the work in iRule
Builder, we'll be able to use
the iRule app for control.

Step 1. Import Sony IP Device
When you browse for Sony Blu-ray devices you will
want to import the SONY Blu-Ray IP Control
device.

Replace Device Codes
Step 2. Replace Device
Now we are going to replace the device. As
you can see in this example we currently have
a Panasonic Blu-ray player in the builder. We
are going to replace the Panasonic Blu Ray
player device with our SONY Blu Ray IP
Control drivers.
Don't forget to save your changes and sync
your handset.

HTTP w/WOL Gateway Setup in the App
Step 1. Create New
HTTP Gateway
Port Settings are
Below (use the port
number that matches
your model of BD.
Note: For (BDP-Sx70 &
BDP-Sx90 use Port
number 50001)
For (BDP-Sx80 use Port
number 52323).
Step 2. HTTP
Gateway cont.
You need to set the
HTTP Method to
POST.
Step 3. Enable WOL
Next we will enable
the Wake-On-LAN
feature, by turning the
Enable WOL to ON.
WOL is supported on
BDP-S590 & S790.
*To find the MAC Address of
the BD player
1. Go to Settings.
2. Navigate to System
Settings.
3. Then to System Information
Step 4. WOL Setup
We will need the MAC
Address of the BD
device that we want
to send the WOL
packet to. *
Step 5. Save
Gateway!
We are now ready to
control our Sony BD
player using IP
control.
The delay - is the
number of seconds
that it takes your BD
player to boot up.
