Sanskrit Study
Tuition: $225
Date: Saturday & Sunday, 10/29 - 10/30
Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Hours: 14
Instructor: Erik Marrero
Description: Perfectly refined, Sanskrit is the language
of yoga. Anyone can resonate with Sanskrit's timeless
sounds and connect to words and ideas incredibly
beautiful and profound. Rewards are many for those who
take the time to see, hear and feel the power and
elegance of Sanskrit. Those interested in yoga philosophy
particularly benefit from this study. This workshop will
give you intimate familiarity with the unique points of
resonance in your own palate that support Sanskrit’s
sacred sounds and you’ll be firmly grounded in proper
pronunciation of this ancient language. Along the way,
you’ll learn the alphabet, itself a lovely chant, and you’ll
receive the tools you need to explore your favorite sutras
and chants in the beautiful script of Sanskrit, Devanāgarī.
ASI’s teaching method, developed over many years by
Vyaas Houston, makes learning Sanskrit stress-free and
fun.
Bending Over Backbends
Tuition: $60
Date: Sunday, 11/6
Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Hours: 4
Instructor: Nita Spielberg
Description: Learn how to deepen your backbend
practice with teaching tips focusing on backbend
anatomy, lesson planning, propping for more advanced
backbends like wheel and dropping back for all levels'
classes. Join us to explore how this practice opens the
heart from the inside out.
Yoga and Drumming
Tuition: $60
Date: Sunday, 11/13
Time: 2:00 am - 6:00 pm
Hours: 4
Instructor: Lisa O’Brien
Description: Drumming and yoga connect the body,
mind and spirit together. Both are healing to the inner
most parts of our beings. It helps coordinate muscles,
heart, and breath as it cues the movement. There are
some practical considerations when mixing yoga and
drumming and there is a natural progression or sequence
in most Hatha yoga classes starting with a period of full
body relaxation and focusing on creating a wave like
pattern of deep breathing. From there students will sit or
stand up moving into building a little heat in the muscles
and easy stretching. The drum tempo increases as the
amount of movement increases. The practice slowly
peaks into standing postures or even dancing. Eventually
the pace slows for cooling down, the final relaxation
pose (savasana) and meditation. Drumming definitely
enhances the pleasure of the yoga class experience. This
class offers the experience through pre-recorded
drumming as well as live drumming.

YOGA TEACHER TRAINING CERTIFICATION
300 HOUR PROGRAM
The Pelvic Floor: Our True Core
Asana as Teacher
Date: Sunday, 12/4
Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Date: Saturday, 12/17
Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Hours: 4
Instructor: Nita Spielberg
Description: This workshop will explore how pelvic
floor awareness and knowledge of the anatomy of
the pelvic floor can enhance yoga practice and
activities of daily living. The importance of pelvic
floor heath and its relationship to the true core of
our body will involve not only a practice, but a more
detailed look at anatomy and the floor's specific
relationship to breath and posture. If you have taken
this workshop in the past, please come again. Since
the last presentation, the instructor has attended an
additional training with Leslie Howard, an
internationally renowned teacher and expert in pelvic
floor health and yoga practice. Join us for this
important topic for all women.
Hours: 4
Instructor: Michelle Carlino
Required: Bring your favorite journal for reflection
Description: Yoga was developed to connect with prana,
the prana within our own bodies and the prana within
everything around us. Asanas help us connect to the
physical prana around us by placing our bodies in positions
that reflect them like tree, half moon, cobra, and mountain.
Often yoga practice consists of moving from asana to asana
without sensing the qualities each brings. Yet, within each
asana is a bhava or feeling and a deeper learning. Through
guided instruction, readings and poetry, meditation, and
journaling, students will explore asana from within and the
teaching each brings.

The Breath of Life
Tuition: $60
Date: Sunday, 12/4
Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Hours: 4
Instructor: Nita Spielberg
Description: In this workshop the student will learn
how the principles of breath are connected to key
concepts in Ayurvedic philosophy and how these
connections are strengthened by anatomical
knowledge of the respiratory system. Join us to
deepen the awareness of how breath supports life
and is also key to a more vibrant asana practice and a
healthy way of life.
Date: Saturday, 12/17
Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Hours: 4
Instructor: Michelle Carlino
Required: Bring your favorite journal for reflection
Description: Exploring the principles of posture, balance,
and form. When children stack blocks, the block at the top
is only as good as the blocks which are stacked beneath
it. For example, often issues with the neck can be traced to
misalignments of the feet and the lower leg. This workshop
will take a deeper look at alignment, how to build stronger
balance, stack our bones and work with our energy in a way
which supports our health both externally and internally.
