Fur Rendezvous Antique Auto Show
February 23-24, 2008
What a show!! Forty two ancient chariots were on display at Morrison‟s spacious, well lighted,
spotless showroom on Dimond Blvd. Perfect weather prevailed and the turn out of enthusiastic
viewers was far more than expected. There was a steady flow of visitors from opening until closing on both Saturday and Sunday. The total turnout is estimated at over 400 and probably closer
to 500 or more based on the pop corn sales.
Donn Reese produced a nifty flyer that he and Jim Fredenhagen posted all over town. These
posters were probably the major reason for the excellent attendance.
Several members displayed autos the we hadn‟t seen before which added a nice touch to the
event. Fred Sharper brought two military vehicles and Doug Smith brought his three wheel Freeway to the exhibit. These vehicles coupled with Fred‟s sweet disposition added a new dimension
to our usual predictable show. Ted Kimzey and Tom Cresap operated the buzz saw and water
pump. The pump confused Fred as he thought the water was coming from a well we had drilled
thru the floor under the box!
Senior member Ken Stout was chosen the Lord Trapper for the Fur Rondy this year, and he and
Maria Downey, this year‟s Lady Trapper, visited the exhibit on Sunday.
Jerry Roach added a little spice to the event by running out of gas right in the middle of the
Dimond and Old Seward Hiway intersection.
Not to be outdone, Ralph Centoni duplicated Jerry on Huffman Rd and was towed home by Dennis Allen.
Participants, who united to make this year‟s show one of

Wow! What a Rondy Car Weekend!
Thanks to Bruce, Jim, Kurt, Donn and everyone else who pitched in, the weekend went
extremely well. The members spent an extraordinary amount of time on their cars to
make the weekend an incredible success.
Thanks to all motor mushers and participants. The crowd enjoyed talking to the owners and vice-versa by a lot of smiling going on
and the sign up of about four new members.

SEMA Instrumental in Delivering Pro-Hobbyist EPA Autobody Paint Rule
New Regulation Protects Hobbyists and the Environment
After incorporating several recommendations from SEMA, including an exemption for hobbyists
who paint their own vehicles, the Environmental Protection Agency EPA) released a final rule to
regulate paint -striping, surface-coating and autobody-refinishing operations. The new regulation
targets hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) that the agency believes causes cancer or other health
problems.
“Through discussions with the EPAA, SEMA was able to convince regulators that a rule could be
produced that would develop „best practice‟ for business operations while exempting hobbyists
who infrequently paint their personal vehicles.”
As a result the regulation does not apply to paint striping and surface coating performed by individuals as part of a hobby or for maintenance of their personal vehicles- so ling as those activities do not exceed two motor vehicles (or the equivalent in pieces) per year. Additionally, the
rule does not apply to painting done with an air brush or hand-held, non-refillable Aerosol cans.
For more information about the rule, contact Jason Tolleson at [email protected]. or by phone
202-/783-600, ext. 39.
New EPA Autobody Painting Regulation:
Exempts hobbyists who paint two cars or less per year.
Business operations are required to have a paint booth, proper filters and spray gun cleaners.
EPA now requires businesses provide initial notification to the agency on their paint operations
and requires training for all employees involved in painting activities.
Businesses must maintain in-house records verifying compliance, filter replacement and plans to
control hazardous air pollutants within the facility.
