COLLEGE COLLAGE
Commencement of Classes – 2016-18
“Education is the most powerful tool that you can use to change the
world” – Nelson Mandela
SIIB welcomed its new batch with a specially designed Induction program that was followed by
the beginning of the academic session.
The chock-a-block weekly calendar flooded the minds of the students as they geared up for the
lectures. With classes lined up and students geared up for selection process of various
committees, quizzical looks have now given way to calmness of coming to terms with college
life which is at times similar to what we have all been through already and at times absolutely
different.
One key aspect that is going to be crucial for students during their stint at SIIB is time
management and the new batch of students has already started experiencing it. Filled with fun,
memorable experiences and hectic schedules, the new academic year has built in
determination and a hope to excel.
Selection process of committees
“Pursue excellence and success will follow”
The start of the academic year 2016-18 was followed by the selection process for junior teams
of all the core committees. The entire selection process was conducted and managed by the
senior team of the respective committee. This year’s selections kicked off with Placement
Committee going first and Alumni Committee, PR & Media Committee followed suit. Initially,
the senior committee members briefed the junior batch about the respective committees, their
functions and selection criteria. Students went through a rigorous procedure of six to seven
rounds comprising – group discussions, personal interviews, presentations, write-ups, peerreview rounds. The entire process was conducted over a week; ending with a final round of
interviews with the respective faculty in-charges for each committee.
This year a total of 24 members were selected for the above committees from a pool of 200
plus applicants.
International Yoga Day Celebration
“The secret for health of both mind and body is not to mourn the past,
nor worry about the future, but to live the present moment wisely and
earnestly” – Buddha
Going by the old adage, “A healthy mind dwells in healthy body”, SIIB proudly celebrated the
International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2016 at the SIC campus. Our mind works relentlessly like a
machine, controlling the involuntary and regulating the voluntary. Yoga in literal sense means
to add, unite, or combine. By figurative extension, the word Yoga takes on a broader meaning.
Carrying forward the magnificent initiative taken last year, Calendar invites, popups on the
computer screen lead to many eager faces attending the event for the same purpose: To
practice yoga and thereby embody unity of man with nature, of mind and body. The focus this
year was to educate the staff and students across SIU about asana that can be performed at
respective workplaces, on desks, and tables. Posture relevance, strength training and other
benefits were explained in detail. In the wake of rising incidences of lifestyle related disorders,
yoga comes in with a boost to the physical as well as mental wellbeing. Yoga is an invaluable
gift of India's ancient tradition and our government has done a great job practicing and
preaching the same. Our online lives have made us offline with our inner self and therefore
yoga helps in reconnecting with ourselves helping us achieve the peace and harmony everyone
desires for.
AARAMBH – THE BEGINNING
“One shines the most under the scorching heat of hard work, to stand or
to perish depends on the one”
Aarambh, as it is called- the beginning of new challenges, new life, new accomplishments and
new learning is an event laced with fun, frolic, exuberance, and energy. The uber excited junior
batch is eager to give everything what it takes to make this event a huge success. Aarambh has
dance, drama, music, and much more to offer. As it is the first event of the year and the batch,
thus, everyone is keen to be involved.
Aarambh as an event is special not only because it is the first event of the batch but because it
is a medium of engagement, engagement to various activities and at the same time a personal
connect to many amongst ourselves. One can’t deny the fact that they love being a part of this
challenge as it brings in creativity, new energy and emotional connects.
During this whole preparation time someone has emerged as the John Legend of SIIB and
someone is the new Shahid Kapoor. Aarambh is an event everyone looks forward to, it has and
it will create memories to cherish.
PEARLS OF WISDOM
”Knowledge comes but wisdom lingers”
SIIB arranged for a workshop on “SUPPLY CHAIN –THE McDonald’s WAY”, on Saturday, 18th
June, for both the SCM and AB graduate students and was presided by Mr.Pravin Wagh, Dy.
GM. (N.SCM). He shared his experience at McDonalds, and also gave some insights on SCM. He
quoted an example for reiterating the fact that “McDonalds has the best supply chain
network”. He mentioned that the outlets of KFC and other such restaurants were forced to shut
down during the Jat Riot in the North India, but due to the best supply chain network,
McDonalds was able to carry on the business in those locations. He also insisted the importance
of accurate forecasting following a product’s promotions and the consequence of a poor
forecasting by citing the example of inaccurate forecasting for McNuggets in its major outlets.
McNuggets attracted a large crowd of foodie through its promotions, but happened to lose its
customers, since it did not reach McDonalds outlets, when demanded by the customers. The
session was interactive and overall, the workshop experience for the student was enriching. Yet
another weekend well spent.

UNVEILING IMPRINTS 2016
Imprints, SIIB’s own special city alumni meet series, is a golden chance for its alumni to walk
down the corridors of nostalgia and revisit their roots . The Alumni Relations team at SIIB has
been successfully hosting Imprints over the past years across the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and
Bengaluru. Since its inception, Imprints has been instrumental in fostering camaraderie
between alumni, college management and the existing students. It is a matter of great pride for
SIIB to have their alumni who have succeeded in various walks of life to grace the function. Not
only do the alumni relive their old memories with their batch mates but also interact with
junior batches to share their success stories and memorable experiences.
A strong alumni association is an important and necessary component of any collegiate chapter
to promote a fraternity experience. For an alumnus, alumni meets are all about going back to
the good old days, to your circle of absolute comfort. What the alumni do in their lives defines
the stature of an institute. SIIB is proud to have a huge alumni base which engages actively with
the institute.
SIIB takes great pleasure in announcing Imprints 2016 and invites all its alumni to be a part of
this event and make it a grand success and continue building a bond with their alma mater.
Imprints-2016 unfolds with the Delhi chapter being held on 6-Aug-16 followed by Mumbai and
Bengaluru meets on 27-Aug-16 and 10-Sep-16 respectively and promises to reconnect with its
alumni like never before.
