Althoughthe irstquarteroftheyear
istypicallyconsideredWinter,we
hereinHoustonareblessedtohave
downrightnicetemperatures,most
days.
Rainfallisnotreallyafactor,except
ontheweekends.Theshowseason
neverreallystops,althoughitdoes
seemtoslowthese irstfewmonths
oftheyear.Soonenoughtheshow
seasonwillbeinfullswingwithyour
choiceof5‐10showsevery
weekend!
Withthepassingofmoredays,they
willgrowlonger.Ouroldfriend
“Humidity”willreturnandwithit
bring“Warmer”temperatures.I
knowmostofyouwillembracethe
warmertemps,justrememberwhen
thecoolweatherisgone,it'sgonefor
theyear!
Imustconfess,Ienjoythecold,low
humidity,andovercastdaysof
Winter.Itremindsmeofatimelong
agowhenIlivedinChicago.DoImiss
shovelingsnow?Notbyalongshot!I
domisswatchingtheseasons
actuallychangethough.
Houstonhasbeenmyhomeforover
25years.TheonlythingIaskiscan
someonesetthefurnacetolessthan
HorridinAugust?Houstonistrulya
greatplacetolive,work,raisea
familyandhaveagreathobbylike
enjoyingyourvehicles.
GrowingupIwastrulyblessedto
havetoworkon irstmyfather’s
cars,thenmyowncars.Ittaughtme
toreallyappreciatehavingmyown
car.Somethingmostofustakefor
granted.
Solet’snottakeourvehiclesfor
granted.Let’stakecareofour
vehicles,enjoytheweather,roll
downthewindows,turnofftheA/C,
loadupthecarandgetoutthere!

spectrumofcolors,makingforan
eye‐catchingpresentationamongthe
500vehiclesondisplayintheGeorgeR.
BrownConventionCenter.All
participatingclubmembersarealso
membersofMustangClubofAmerica.
Duringtheevent,clubmemberssigned
upnewmembers,advertisedtheclub’s
upcomingcarshow,promotedthe
MustangClubofAmerica,andhonorably
representedtheMustanghobbytoshow
spectators.

carhimselfwhileRex,Bob,andRay
employed“RoytheTrucker”who
shippedthecarsinhisunmarkedsix‐
carsemi‐trailer.
Theshowwasheldacrosstheriver
fromdowntownSavannahata
modernandspaciousconvention
center.Theweatherwaswarmbut
pleasant.RayandBob,withtheir
carsinUnrestoredandConcours
Traileredcategoriesrespectively,
werefortunatetohavesnagged
indoor(i.e.airconditioned!)parking
places.
Inadditiontoattendingtheshow,
BobvolunteeredatClassi ication,
usingthenewMotoshosmartphone
apptogetcarscheckedin.Thisnew
systemishelpingmodernizeand
speedtheclassi icationand
registrationprocess.Healsoserved
onaJudgingteamfor3rdGeneration
cars.
Rayhadaparticularlypacked
weekend.Inthemiddleoftheshowhe
insertedaroundtriptoElPasotojoin
hiswifeatherhighschoolreunion.
Theairlinescooperatedandgothim
thereandbackwithonlyminimal
delays.Nowthat’squitethe
dedication,tobothhishobbyandhis
spouse!
BeforeleavingforSavannah,MCOH
membershadsignedaspecialMCOH
plaquewhichwasthenpresentedto
outgoingMCApresidentStevePruitt,
inrecognitionofhis ineservicetothe
Mustanghobby.
Theeventwas
crownedwhen
eachparticipant
snaggedanaward.

Continuinganactivitybegunin2009,
membersoftheMustangClubofHouston
attendedthePressDayeventatthe
HoustonAutoShowonJanuary21.At
theinvitationofthoseworking
PromotionsforFordMotorCompany,
memberswereallowedintotheshowto
beapartFord’sreporttomedia
representatives.FordMarketing
managersgavepresentationsontwo
newmodels,theEdge(starting
productionsoon),andtheExplorer(to
beavailablelaterintheyear).Members
wereableto“seeandtouch”thesenew
models,askquestions,andprovide
feedbacktothemanagers.
Intheadjoiningdisplay,the
newLincolnMKXwason
display.
InadditiontothenewEdge
andExplorer,theFord
displayincludedmany
otherFordproducts,
includingtherecently
releasedMustangandF‐150.Members
enjoyedtheevent,especiallysinceit
providedamoreintimateopportunityto
examinethecarsbeforethethrongsof
peoplearrivedafewhourslater.

JacintoCruise.Thiswasourunof icialTexasInde‐
pendencecelebration.Itwasagreatlearningexperi‐
enceforeveryonewhowent.Wegottowatchadoc‐
umentaryonthebattle,walkthroughtheexhibits,
andevenrideuptotheobservationdecktogeta
betterviewofthebattlegrounds.Ievengottosee
myGreatGreatGrandfather'snameonthewall
alongwiththeotherswhoserved.Inallthiswasa
fantasticcruise,andagreatwaytolearnaboutearly
TexasHistory.Thoughwewereunabletomakeitto
theBattleshipTexas,Iwillbeplanninganother
cruisetoSanJacintoforapicniclaterthisyearto
tourthebattlegrounds,seethebattleship,andhave
lunchwitha
greatgroupof
people.
