VOLUME XXXXIV
OCTOBER 15, 2015
Monte Chiari, ITALY – IMBBA was again invited back to judge the Rombo-Di Tuono motorcycle builders
competition. Nestled in a community just outside Brescia. This competition, was unique in that the builders
are for the most part members
of the Federation of Italian
Customizers (FIC) and or IMBBA
members. The show was
surprising and in keeping with
the spirit and passion known
globally
of
the
Italian
customizers where, the planet’s
products in transportation,
fashion and styling have earned
them that distinction. However,
the show still came with many
surprises. Over 77 motorcycles
from cities all over Italy, arrived
(L to R) IMBBA President, Jeff Starke FIC President Mauricio, and Rombo Di Tuono Promoter and Low Ride Magazine Corrado
to enjoy the hospitality of the shows promoter Corrado of Low Ride magazine. Participants and enthusiasts
filled several convention center display auditoriums. Live bands, exhibitions, vendors, 50-60’s custom
American cars and a smorgasbord of many swap meet vendors that would rival any swap meets seen in the
states. The show takes on an air of our USA shows of the last decade where the American icons of years gone
by remained immortal.

The Federation of Italian Customizers (FIC) carries a weight to guiding and organizing the Italian professional
and is in partnership with IMBBA who validates the professionals in Italy through FIC for international
certification. Their new President, Mauricio, welcomed IMBBA
and offered assistance and guidance for their FIC/IMBBA
members at the show. During this event IMBBA and FIC were
able to find time to meet with the FIC board members and
discuss future growth and their possible participation in 2016
IMBBA World Competition being held in Dubai, UAE, during the
Emirates Bike Festival 3.
This year’s competition was extremely tight and difficult
judging. The competition, in this show, uses a different
classification that IMBBA’s global standard and because the
international variety of motorcycles and manufacturers IMBBA
was able to adjust to the identity and history of the generations
of motorcycles and was a learning experience that over the last
four years of IMBBA judging their show we have a better
understanding on a larger global level where to fit all the different styles and their unique differences. You can
say this show is helping to write the standard.
Also, this year we seen the arrival in the competition to the American Bagger style now with the Italian
twists and creativity.
The Italian customizers goes all out in the displays for their bikes and products. Much of their work is
reminiscent to America’s culture of the 1980-90’s.

RAY PRICE BIKE SHOW
Judged by the IMBBA
Raleigh, NC. - This year Ray Price, Motorcycle legend and Racer and one of Harley’s larger
dealers near the East Coast, celebrated another year of bike shows and rally activities. This was the
first year IMBBA was invited to come and judge the bike show at this event. The
event is located about the city. You begin at the Ray Price Harley Davidson
dealership then a street display of vendors and then a jaunt over to the
convention center where more vendors and activities are along with the Bike
Show, which was broken into two shows one independently judged. IMBBA had
over 77 bikes to judge in the competition and the other show, an invitational
was peer judged which had some outstanding customs as well.
This year’s judges were, IMBBA Master Judges Charlie Hadayia, Ron Radeke, IMBBA Judge
Roy Mathes Scorer Recorder, Jean Starke. The two-day show went well and the owners display some
very interesting styles and customs.

Dubai, U.A.E. This year’s World Championship Builders Competition being held in the United
Arab Emirates, Dubai. Is being hosted by Final Cut Events promoter, Loay Hussein. Loay, is making
the IMBBA’s global standards of Fit, Form, Function and Safety well known to all in the countries
of Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan and the UAE. This year’s event drawing builders from USA,
Canada, Italy and Germany will
promote these standards by
opening an IMBBA Judges
course to the builders of these
countries. Registration for the
course was opened last month
and 16 builders have already
registered for the course. This
is a signal that builders are
now paying attention to those
who are winning in Bike
Building competitions and
gaining name recognition by
the only professionally trained
and industry endorsed judging
Students from PSI and Builders taking the test to become IMBBA Bike Show Judges.
entity. This course taught on a regular basis at Power Sports Institute in North Randall, Ohio, will
be transported across the pond and held on Friday and Saturday of the event. The classroom will
be held in a 7 star hotel conference room and then in the field training at the event where these
builders get the opportunity to test the skills and knowledge provided them by judging the top
bikes from around the world that will be in attendance during the Festival event This November.
(Don’t worry builders their scores don’t count in the competition!)
IMBBA is the only professional bike judging organization on the planet that trains judges and
establishes historic value to classifications to take the inconvenience away from bike rally
promoters and provide a mentoring and official judging techniques to the participants to improve
the quality of bikes and their safety for the public. “It is only practical to see that the points
system developed by IMBBA president, Jeff Starke reflects that of the builder’s knowledge that
we use in order to judge the bikes and give credit points to the builder when earned for their

professional certification”. Said Ron Radeke, IMBBA

IMBBA is proud of the students and their
enthusiasm, it shows a caring and respect to
builders that they want to judge fairly and
accurately which is the IMBBA claim to fame among
builders and promoters. This attitude has launched
IMBBA to be a globally recognized and appreciated.
IMBBA will open its doors in the spring 2016 for

MAGAZINE
Cleveland, Ohio (August __, 2016) The Summit Racing Equipment I-X Piston
Powered Auto-Rama Presented by Rad Air Complete Car Care and Tire Centers
announced today its continuation of its strategic alliance with the International Master
Bike Builders Association and Thunder Roads Ohio Magazine. The alliance will once
again bring the IMBBA and their judges to the I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama to judge
all the motorcycles in 12 classes along with the Duck Award, Best in Show and Pro
Builders class of bikes. Thunder Roads Magazine will host the Thunder Zone at the show
and will collect ballots from show-goers for the “People’s Choice” award. The IMBBA will
also be inviting Bike Builders from throughout the country to attend the show.
“We started our strategic alliance with the IMBBA in 2015 and we were
overwhelmed with the response that we got from the biker community,” said Show
Manager Steve Legerski. “Working with the IMBBA and Thunder Roads Magazine
provides more horsepower to the show with more cash awards while preserving the
history of the show with the $1,500 Duck Award.”
“We’re very excited to have the International Master Bike Builders Association
back for the 50th IX Piston Powered Auto-Rama,” said Jim Grosso, Summit Racing Retail
Super Store Manager. “The level of customization and build quality that goes into these
bikes is simply outstanding, and we’re proud to recognize those builders with awards and
cash prizes.”

“It is with great pride that the IMBBA has been selected to once again judge this
amazing show. Working within this strategic alliance with the I-X Piston Powered AutoRama and Thunder Roads Ohio, the IMBBA will seek out the most talented bike builders
and enthusiasts throughout the country and reward them for their passion,” said IMBBA
Founder and President Jeff Starke. “All of the IMBBA judges strictly adhere to a straightforward set of published guidelines used to award points and all IMBBA judges go through
a training apprenticeship, judging bikes alongside founding president and chief judge, Jeff
Starke. The judges use trade standards to award points that define the bike’s Fit, Form,
and Function & Safety.”
“Thunder Roads Ohio is proud to once again be a part of the I-X Piston Powered
Auto-Rama, one of the nation’s premier custom shows. As we celebrate the 50th
Anniversary of the Auto-Rama show here in Cleveland, we look to help bring the
motorcycle aspect to a whole new level with even more world class bikes,” said Thunder
Roads Ohio Publisher, Derek Smith. “With the involvement of the International Master
Bike Builders Association (IMBBA), we are able to ensure that the show will be
professionally judged with an established system that is clearly the industry standard. We
look forward to helping host bike builders from across the country and truly showcase
some of the most exciting builds anywhere. Builders are able to hoist these trophies and
know that they truly achieved something – being judged by the best, against some of the
best.”
“The I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama is certainly one of the best values of any car
or motorcycle show ticket anywhere. It’s hard to imagine how you could pack more into
the show – but they try to every year!”
The show will be celebrating its 50 years in Cleveland having started in 1967 at
the Cleveland Convention Center with “The Former Fifty” and the “Featured Fifty”
vehicles. The Former Fifty are winners from the past which will displayed on Thunder Row
as part of the 2016 Cruising’ Times All Stars and the Featured Fifty will be a combination
of ISCA Show Cars from around the country to the many specialty vehicles that once
graced the show floor from 1967 through the 2015 show including Drag-U-La (1967), The
Man from U.N.C.L.E. Spy Car (1968), The Illusion (1967), The Red Baron Roadster
(1970), The Morque Machine (1982) which was inspired by the TV Show “Mork and
Mindy” and many, many more.

Daytona Bike Week 2002. The IMBBA currently has certified members in 14 countries

JUDGE’S TIPS
Brought to you by:
The underside of your bike has and will always be a point of contention. While many feel
it is a game changer in the competition at a bike show. Remember ignoring the underside of your
bike can costs points. While many
promoters believe it is a ride-in
functionally operating motorcycle
competition, we do not take points
away for scratches or chips in the paint
in these areas during judging. We still
do look at the undercarriage of the
motorcycle. So don’t assume that that
is the brunt of inspection. Be sure it
doesn’t reveal oil leaks, lines that are
damaged from trailering your bike or
bottoming out with road obstacles.
Ensure that the underside is corrosion
free (unless you are an antique
motorcycle). And that any cables, wires and the like are not dragging or loose with no fasteners.
Doing this can pick you up a point here and there over the competition and leave you “MISSunderstanding” the results. Good Luck at your next show.

Celebrating our 10th Anniversary in Sturgis was a
mile stone for me in seeing everyone come to the
Celebration and be there to see our Hall of Fame
members inducted. This is a good signal that the
efforts of all is not lost and is growing.
With the advent of our second Bike Show in Dubai and
four years Judging Italy six years Judging in Canada and
the many other countries Builders coming onboard to
make the Global Standard for Bike Show Competition
and Builder Certification has come full circle and I want
to thank the Board of Directors for their support and
everyone who as members has been there through the
years helping IMBBA succeed.
While it has been 10 short years and time has gone
by fast. I am reminded that I am also coming up on a five-year journey in Freemasonry and
will if elected this fall become the Worshipful Master of my Lodge. An equal honor to being
the President of IMBBA for ten years. Therefore, I have to ask once again the Board of
Directors and the Judges globally to come together and assist IMBBA in the many Bike Shows
coming up in 2016. This year in office with Mandarin Lodge #343 in Jacksonville, Florida
requires my upmost attention. As such, I need everyone’s support so not to lose the
momentum we have all worked so hard to achieve and keep the reputation solid in the
industry that these first ten years have accomplished. I will of course be available and support
everywhere I can, as long as it doesn’t take me from these duties and obligation. Thank you
one and all for your attention to these matters. And I look forward to 2016 and beyond with
IMBBA.
