Dear Delegate,
it is an honour and a pleasure for me, as the Head of the Institute of
Mining Engineering I at the RWTH Aachen University and as the chairman of the Executive Committee
of AIMS, to invite you to the 5th International Symposium “High Performance Mining” here in Aachen.
The town of Aachen is situated in the heart of Europe and well known for its´ beautiful historical city
center, in particular the ancient cathedral and the city hall.
The AIMS series of symposia has to come to be recognized by the mining society as a leader in
promoting the international transfer of technology. In view of the expressed interest by mining
professionals from around the world, AIMS Symposia like “Rockbolting in Mining”, “High-Performance
Mine Production” and “Rapid Mine Development” have been organized since 1987 on an annual basis.
This year's symposium will strive to provide a forum for presentation, discussion and evaluation of
state-of-the-art and emerging technologies in the field of High Performance Mining with special
emphasis to Automation, Communication and Infrastructure.
The event is designed to be a place for the exchange of information among experts, which in times of
further internationalization and globalization must not be limited to national or european borders.
About 48 presentations by high ranking experts from Australia, Canada, India, Iran, Japan, South
Africa, USA and from Europe as Austria, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia,
Sweden and Turkey are contributing to this objective.
Apart from this, companies active in the field of mining will present themselves in an exhibition.
Exhibition space is still available at the conference and interested companies should contact the
organizers for further information.
At this point, I would like to thank a large number of people for their help organizing and executing

Motivation
“Hochleistungsabbaubetriebe” ist ein
Synonym für Leistungssteigerung,
Produktivitätssteigerung und höhere
Produktionsraten in der Gewinnung. Diese
sind heutzutage entscheidend für den wirtschaftlichen Erfolg von Bergbauunternehmen.

High performance mining is a synonym for
increased efficiency, increased productivity
and higher production rates in raw materials
extraction. These became the deciding factors
in determining the economic success of a
mining operation.
Weltweit geht der Trend zu immer leistungsfähigeren Tiefbaubetrieben.
Ausschlaggebend für weitere Produktivitätssteigerungen sind:
The global trend in underground mining
operations is towards ever increasing
productivity. The important factors affecting
productivity are:
Automatisierung, Kommunikation,
Infrastruktur
Diese umfassen: Fortschritte in der Antriebsund Gewinnungstechnik, Logistik,
Instandhaltung, Planung und Organisation.
Einen wesentlichen Schwerpunkt der Themen
werden daher Fragen der kontinuierlichen
Verbesserung von Technologien und
Verfahrensweisen zur weiteren Steigerung der
Produktivität bilden. Hier kann ein Vergleich
zwischen Bergwerken und Bergbauzweigen
eine Hilfestellung geben.

Ausstellung
Die Ausstellungsfläche ist in dem
Pausenbereich integriert, so dass die
Aussteller ausgezeichnete Möglichkeiten
haben, sich mit den Teilnehmern und
Vortragenden zu treffen und auszutauschen.
Die traditionelle Abendveranstaltung bietet in
geselliger Atmosphäre Gelegenheit zu
weiteren Gesprächen mit Kunden und
Fachkollegen.
Exhibition
All morning and afternoon tea breaks will be
served in the exhibition area. This will provide
excellent opportunities for exhibitors and
delegates to meet and talk.
The traditional dinner party provides the
opportunity to get in contact with customers
and colleagues
Leistungspaket Ausstellung
Die Standgebühr für Aussteller, die eine
Anzeige im Tagungsband geschalten haben,
ist kostenfrei.
Sollten Sie nicht daran interessiert sein, im
Tagungsband zu inserieren, bieten wir Ihnen
die Möglichkeit an, die Firma für 250 € pro
Meter Standfläche auf dem Kolloquium zu
präsentieren (Mindeststandfläche 2 Meter).

Service Package Exhibition
The booth fee for exhibitors who have
advertised in the proceedings is exempt from
charges.
Should you not be interested to advertise in
the proceedings, we offer the option to
present your company for a booth-fee of 250 €
per metre (exhibition space at least 2 meters).
Following services will be rendered for one
person of your company:

requirements 1-3 meters including
1 table and 2 chairs and power supply
! Poster walls are available upon request:
Their measurements are 190 x 98 cm.
