1314 13th Avenue Southeast | 507 581-3076 It started when Josh Powers and his dad Eric built a car together seven years ago. What started as a hobby has grown into a business with four employees in a 4,400 square foot shop. When it comes to Corvettes, nobody has the passion like Custom Image Corvettes in Watertown does. “I had barely finished my Corvette, when someone saw it and asked me if I could do what I had done, to his car,” recalls owner, Josh Powers. “I was doing it part-time in my garage at first, and one car turned into another and another and I got so busy that I made the decision to give it a shot full-time on Thanksgiving three years ago. I attended Lake Area Tech for drafting before moving on to SDSU where I received my bachelor’s degree in Construction Management with a Business minor. But my heart has been with cars all along. I grew up with cars and have been around them my whole life. My dad is a master mechanic and we spent a lot of time together in the garage. After college I moved to Minnesota and then to Iowa. After being gone for 12 years I moved back to Watertown two and a half years ago. One year later I built our current facility, which I designed, at 1314 13th Avenue Southeast. We are in the process of another expansion to increase our size to 7,000 square feet. We have 15 cars in our backlog at this time and the expansion will give us room to work on even more cars.” Custom Image Corvettes has a reputation for building Corvette resto-mods, and has stated doing restorations on mid-year Corvettes. Their typical customer will usually send them a run down car and they install modern drive trains, upgrade the chassis, install new body panels and do body work and paint. “We design and manufacture our own fiberglass body panels, including flared fenders and chrome bumper conversion kits for the later model C3 Corvettes. Most people love the chrome bumper cars and our niche is to use the kit we created to convert the “rubber bumper” cars to look like chrome bumper cars. This is an economical way to improve the look of your car.” 1973 Corvette-owned by Rocco Torres, San Diego, California. Rocco inherited his Corvette from his dad. He had always wanted to restore it but also personalize it to his taste. His research on the internet led him to our company. He loved the look of our flared fenders and asked us if we could install them and paint his car. “I am from California and was actually in California when Rocco called me so I was able to meet him in person and discuss the project. After that he arranged to have the car shipped to Custom Image. The color Rocco chose was Olympic White, which is a new Camaro color, with a Ferrari Red hood stripe. Rocco saw a photo of my Camaro and liked the paint scheme.” “Dave Brown is our sales rep from ABS in Watertown. He has been a world of help and is the best sales rep a guy could ask for. One time we ran out of product on a Saturday and he met me down at ABS so I could get what I needed. When we decided to switch from PPG Deltron to PPG Envirobase paint, Dean Kommes the technical rep from ABS in Sioux Falls and Dave Brown came to the shop and guided us on our first Envirobase paint job. The entire staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. They always go above and beyond what is expected. They have helped us develop our system for painting cars. If it wasn’t for them I am not sure I would even be in the bodywork business. I have used PPG ever since I started this as a hobby and I have stuck with them. It has great coverage and color clarity and I just love the final finish of it.” “One thing that I have always been known for is customer service. My business started as a hobby and I had no one to talk to when I had technical questions. I have made it my goal to be available to my customers so they have someone to talk to and bounce ideas off of. If I do not have the answers, I will find the answers for them. I have customers all over the world, sometimes I talk to them very early in the morning because it is convenient for them. We are proud of the positive testimonials of our customers. Our entire staff loves Corvettes. We all have them and we truly love what we do.” 1973 Corvette Owner Rocco Torres DRIVETRAIN: • 1997 350cu LT1 • Borg Warner T56 Six Speed Manual Transmission • Rear End Ratio: .373 • Street & Performance Mid-Length Headers • 2.5” Dual Exhaust w/ Magnaflow Mufflers • Griffin Aluminum Radiator SUSPENSION: • Front - 550 Slalom Coil Springs, Tuned KYB Shocks • Rear - Carbon Fiber/Fiberglass Single Leaf, Tuned KYB Shocks BODY: • Custom Image Corvettes Quarter Panel Flares • Custom Image Corvettes Custom Paint and Bodywork • 2012 Chevy Camaro White • Ferrari Red Hood Stripes • Custom Steel Thermocoated Front Grill WHEELS: • Pro Wheels Mag • Front: 275/35/18 BFG KDW - 10in. wide wheel • Rear: 335/30/18 BFG KDW - 12in. wide wheel INTERIOR: • Stock 1972 Red Interior Panels • Original Gauges • Custom Aluminum Shift Plate • Hurst Shifter & Speed Dawg Shift Knob w/ Rev. • Lockout Button • Vintage Air Climate Control System • Corbeau A4 Seats • Grant Formula 1 Steering Wheel • Pioneer Head Unit w/ Bluetooth • Polk Audio 6.25” Kick Panel Speakers • JBL 4x6 Combo Dash Speakers • JL Audio 8in.
