Fifth International Global Academy of Business & Economic Research (GABER)
Mr. Muhammad Fahad Javaid, Lecturer, Department of management Sciences, COMSATS, Lahore
Campus presented his research paper in the Fifth International Global Academy of Business &
Economic Research (GABER), conference, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was funded by the HEC,
Pakistan for attending the Conference. The GABER Annual Meeting provides a unique opportunity
for academics, practitioners, and policy makers to present their on-going research and to exchange
ideas on various disciplines in business, economics and management. Moreover, it also provides an
in-depth analysis in the context of current global economic crisis and financial meltdown. This

Journal publication by Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz
The paper entitled "Electricity Consumption and Economic Growth: Empirical Evidence from
Pakistan" by Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz the Research Fellow of MS Department, has been accepted in
"Energy Economics". This journal published by "ELSEVIER" is with impact factor of 2.726 which
is considered a high quality journal in SSCI list by HEC. Other authors include Mete Feridun and
Mohammad Ali Asad.
2nd International Conference on Business, Technology & Engineering
The paper entitled "Effects of National Culture on Organizational Performance in Pakistan: an
Empirical Analysis" by Mr. Imran Ali, Assisstant Professor of MS Dept. has been accepted for
presentation at 2nd International Conference on Business, Technology & Engineering organized by
IQRA University which was held on 23-24 January, 2010.
Google @ Comsats
On Saturday, December 19, 2009, a workshop was conducted on the topic of “Internet Marketing,
Web Entrepreneurship, blogging and free lancing”. All the students of the department of
Management Sciences attended the workshop. The workshop was meant to provide our students with
knowledge based on industrial exposure and research base. Google's Country Consultant Pakistan,
Badar Khushnood was the speaker for the workshop.
Strategic Leadership by Athar Hameed
The Department of Management Sciences invited a guest speaker, Athar Hameed, Head of HR
Department, NUST Business School, Islamabad to deliver lecture on the topic “Strategic
Leadership”, on Sunday, December 20, 2009. All the students of the department of Management
Sciences attended the lecture. The seminar was very beneficial for the participants.
Developing Literature Review
Department of Management Sciences arranged a workshop on “Developing Literature Review” on
December 31, 2009 and January 01, 2010. Twenty five (25) National Universities participated in this
workshop which was full sponsored by IRP.
Investment in Man
The students of BBA B-10 section A and section B arranged an exhibition on a topic called
‘Investment in Man’ in relation to the Economic Development. This exhibition was conducted solely
by Miss Hina Amir, the course instructor of Economic Development. The exhibition included
different projects done and displayed by the student groups. The projects represented the data of
investment in a man from Government and Private sectors stating all the expenditures of a man
starting from his early education, till his graduation. This exhibition included five of the remarkable
projects done by the students of BBA B10 Section A. Similarly, the students of BBA B10 Section B
also presented five of the other extraordinary projects. The exhibition was arranged in the corner of
the student’s sitting area of Management Science block. Dr. Kaleem, the HOD of Management
Sciences Department, also visited the exhibition and appreciated the work done by the students and
encouraged the course instructor to arrange more of such productive events so that they may become
a source of effective learning for the students.
Winter Carnival 2009
Event Management Society Department of
Management Sciences organized a Departmental
Winter Carnival on Dec 7th 2009.The reason for the
event was to give students a day of enjoyment and to
relax them from the hectic routine of studies.
There were above 15 different stalls of games and
food to entertain the students. Students and faculty
members enjoyed the whole day with their friends.
Head of the Management Sciences Department Dr.
Kaleem along with other faculty members visited the
venue and appreciated Mr. Fahad Javed , Mr. Taqi
Zaidi and his team on the great success of the event.
Later on EMS members had a group photo with the HOD of Management Sciences and faculty
members.
Welcome Parties
Event Management Committee organized welcome
parties for the newly joined students of BBA and
MBA. Students of 2nd semester of the respective
batches participated very lively to make the event
successful and memorable. Skits, performances, solo
singing, modeling and much more was on the stage to
entertain the audience. The students and the faculty
enjoyed these parties. Head of the Department Dr. Kaleem appreciated all the participants and
members of EMS on arranging such entertaining functions.
Talent Hunt Show
Performing Arts Society Department of Management
Sciences arranged a Talent Hunt Show on Dec 7th
2009 in the Management Sciences Department. A
large number of students attended the show. Students
from different batches showed their skills and talent.
Skits, dance performances and singing of students
made the event a success.
