Enrichment in High School Math 2016
Rules and Regulations Dear Student and Parent: Welcome to the 2016 summer school session. Regardless of the reason why you have chosen to enroll, the Administration and Staff of McHenry Community High School District 156 sincerely hope that you will find summer school rewarding and beneficial. Summer school will be held at McHenry High School – West Campus Greetings Parents and Incoming 9th Grade Students! We are excited to offer our incoming 9th graders an important opportunity this summer. MCHS will be offering and highly encouraging our incoming 8th grade students to take “Enrichment in High School Math”. This course will be a non-credit introduction to high school that will greatly increase your student’s chances of having a highly successful freshmen year. Students will be able to sharpen and enrich their math skills while learning about high school and helping to make a great transition from middle school. No matter what your student’s level of math skill is, this course will be geared for their individual needs! We hope to see vast numbers of incoming students register for one semester at a greatly reduced price. We look forward to meeting you and encouraging you on the road to high school success! Yours in learning, Carl D. Vallianatos, Ed.S. Director of Curriculum and Instruction McHenry Community High School District #156 In order to ensure that there is no confusion or misunderstanding concerning the policies, procedures, and expectations regarding summer school, we ask each student and parent to read the information contained below and then sign that they are aware of these policies and/or regulations. Attendance: Attendance is extremely important. In summer school, 18 weeks of material is covered in fifteen days and, as a result, is very intensive. Subsequently, it is expected that students be in attendance on a daily basis, because class work is extremely difficult or impossible to make up within a fifteen day time period. AT A MAXIMUM, STUDENTS CAN ONLY MISS ONE DAY OR HAVE A TOTAL OF THREE TARDIES TO CLASS. Discipline: Summer school enrollment is an option for students. It is not a requirement. Therefore, policies and procedures used during the regular school year do not apply. A student will simply be removed from summer school if, after a warning, he/she continues to make irresponsible choices. Basic Summer School Rules: All school rules apply No Smoking on School Grounds: State law prohibits smoking in/on any public buildings/premises. No Fighting/Physical Aggression: Fights/intimidation amongst students will not be tolerated. Students engaging in these behaviors will be removed from summer school. No Drugs/Alcohol: The use or sale of drugs/alcohol is illegal and strictly prohibited. Violators will be dismissed from school and a referral to legal authorities will be made. Insubordination, Gross Misconduct: Acts of insubordination and gross misconduct will result in dismissal from the summer school program.
