Bathroom trends for the upcoming year have evolved into bigger and bolder, the basic two dimensional aesthetic
is no more with deeper textures and layers consuming the bathroom space.
Many of us have moved on from items that
feel sharp, hard edged and industrialised – a
common theme seen in 2016 bathrooms. The
race track shape, almost rectangle, with sexy
curves has seduced us to take a closer look at
our interior spaces and trends insist the ‘touch
appeal’ is now an essential to any design. Think
curved freestanding baths to sink into and sleek
basin mixers or shower tapware.
A piece of furniture or a home décor item
lovingly crafted by an artisan as an original
individual piece, rather than mass produced
instantly adds a distinctive and personal touch
to any interior space. Original hand painted tiles
or hand crafted pendant lights can add an extra
personal touch to these spaces also.
When designing the bathroom space; hand
crafted stone, concrete, timber or painted
vessels placed on beautiful handcrafted
cabinetry crafted from local timbers or exotic
veneers can be stunning. Custom designed
pieces i.e. timber tops of vanities or complete
vanity sets, can become an exquisite feature in
any bathroom. Examples of this are shown in
the Bathroom Collections (page 8-15).

The concept of chargeable/enlarged imagery
on surfaces will transcend into bathroom joinery
and enable the device to be your news, music or
social media whilst bathing. For this reason the
bath will never be out of trend.
Lighting is also high on the specification list
when designing the bathroom. Strips of LED
lights can range from a basic warm light to multi
light changing options, creating the mood you
so desire. Ambient lighting casting out from
under the mirror cabinet or flooding down a wall
of tiles are a truly cost effective way in really
making your bathroom an oasis.
We’ll see 4 eclectic trends pulled through to
bathroom products, colour palettes and textural
devices; Fade, Discover, Proclaim and Invisible.
Colour is immensely important, polarising
between simple and honest or unassuming and
stronger with more saturated tones that make a
bold statement.
Texture is a key feature, not just with tangible
touch and feel, but with colour diffusion and
material highlights. Uneven patterning, textural
opposites, blocked colour contradictions and a
transparent opaque look.
Fade - Subtle watery/muddy paint hues and
tones applied with the ombre effect for more
definition. A feeling of softness, calmness and
light seems to be the desired result. Perfect
for using the pantone colours of the year;
Rose Quartz 13-1520 & Serenity 15-3919, which,
when subtly featured in a bathroom will add a
harmonious touch.
Discover – Slick and rough i.e. a freestanding
bath with a rough rock exterior. Modern
details mixed with old world items. The colour
discovered from these processes can vary from
a deep aqua tone to the clarity of river stone
grey.
Proclaim – A hyper natural atmosphere. Think
digital printed botanicals onto wall papers, tiles
and fabrics. Quirky and unusual based on the
natural rich hues of the earth.
Invisible – Monochromatic colour tones paired
with transparent weaves. Looking for the blurred
out version of colour. Whitened print over
coloured wallpaper, fabric or tiles. Sheer fabric
covering windows for the filtered light. The
foamy and water droplets look gives a space a
multi layered pure feel.

The raw timber of the vanity top and wall is a
stark contrast against the black of the Paffoni

Hard angles and bold edges are incorporated
into the space through the bath platform, the
timber panel divider and the slick shapes of
all the bathroom products. The hexagon tiles
are a classy geometric effect and add to the
bathroom without fighting with any of the other
attributes. They add a playful yet stylish element
to the bathroom.
An excellent idea for any bathroom with a
toilet - use a dividing wall to separate the least
desired part of the bathroom while delighting
the imagination for an artistic or inventive

Classic, timeless, serene. Perfect words to describe this bathroom from The Block NZ: Villa Wars. With a focus on
luxury, the designers have opted for an elegant touch on all features – chrome finishings on tapware and handles,
moody stone tiles and the stand out bath.
Practical and luxurious, the generous shower sits
conveniently in the corner. Having a wall recess
in the shower is a handy nook for amenities
while the glass doors keep the area open and
the aesthetics visible.
The sizable 1200mm St Michel City wall hung
vanity provides lots of storage space and a large
vanity top for the user. Perched on top is the
simple yet spacious Ideal Standard Round basin
and Milano extended Basin Mixer in chrome. The
added height of the mixer turns what is usually a
basic element of the bathroom into a glamourous

aspect while the chrome factor is timeless.
The St Michel Dante Plus 3 door Mirror Cabinet
adds further storage space and reflects both
the dark grey stone of the tiles and the fresh

Comfort and relaxation was the aim of the game in this house on The
Block NZ: Villa Wars and has been clearly pulled through to the bathroom.
Another collection choosing to integrate the simplistic trend of matt
black, timber and metal; this bathroom is modern, spacious and quirky.
A neutral palette of greys and whites make the black features and iconic
green moss wall really pop.
Highlighted by the focal point of the room, the
Adesso Edge freestanding bath is a luxurious
oasis complemented by the unique Fantini
Mare bath/shower set in black (deck mounted).
Complete with mixer and pull out shower head,
this is right up with the latest in European
bathroom trends.
In the shower the matt black Fantini Mare

practical – keeping the room cool when needed
or warm with underfloor heating while also
being easy to clean. A great living wall feature

Think like an interior designer and get ready to create your new exquisite retreat.
LIGHTING AND STYLE
LAYOUT
•When planning your layout think about first
impressions. In particular, avoid having the
toilet in direct line of sight to the doorway.
•If you have a small space a wall hung vanity
and toilet suite will give you the importance
of more space in your new bathroom.
•Where possible, place your heated towel rail
near the entrance to your shower so that
you can reach your towel easily. However, it
is recommended that you check with your
electrician to make sure that where you want
to place it is in the electrical safety zone and
therefore NZ Certification approved.
•Always look to place your fan above the
shower enclosure for maximum ventilation /
extraction of steam and condensation.
•Add plants / greenery to bring it all to life,
such as the clever new concealed Woolly
Pockets that allow you to hang plants
against a wall.

•If you are upgrading a bathroom situated
on a concrete pad, there will likely be
considerable extra expense involved if
you are planning to relocate your existing
plumbing points, so be sure to factor this into
your budgeting process.
•Look to design-in a “general floor waste”
into your new bathroom as a safety measure
for overflowing water, especially when
there is a bath in the area. This is especially
recommended for upstairs bathrooms to
prevent water flooding the ceiling below.
•If you love clean lines, create practical
storage without cluttering the room by
recessing your mirror cabinet. Just make sure
to choose one with suitable depth for your

•Think about natural light. Place your mirror so
that you face it with a good level of natural

for your new bathroom is to decide what
shape you want to accentuate, and aim to
choose products that are in keeping with

NB: Supply availability, prices and codes may change

DELIVERY
Much of what you see in this catalogue is
available within five working days. However,
some furniture, spa baths and designer items
are manufactured to order and can have a
lead time of some weeks. More specialised
products can take up to three to four months if
being delivered from the Northern Hemisphere.
RETURNS OR EXCHANGE POLICY
I. Goods supplied in accordance with the buyer’s
order can only be returned with the express
approval of Mico Bathrooms.
II. Requests to return goods must be submitted
within 10 days from the date of supply and the
original invoice number must be quoted.
III. Where goods are accepted for credit they
must be returned in original condition, inclusive
of all packaging.
IV. Mico Bathrooms reserves the right to levy
a restocking fee against any returns they may
agree to accept. Such fees may be up to 20% of
the invoice price and levied at Mico Bathrooms’
absolute discretion.
V. Goods specifically imported, procured or
manufactured on behalf of the buyer can only
be returned on such terms and conditions as
Mico Bathrooms agrees.
