control of the brake pipe pressure for high speed

all TSI requirements for perfect interoperability
of the trains wherever in Europe.

SANDING
Using the unequalled experience gained over the
years, Nowe Sanding provides fit-for-purpose
sanding solutions to enhance adhesion between
the vehicle and rails during critical braking
actions. The unique design allows perfect
ejection of the exact quantity of sand needed at
any speed thus maintaining perfect control of
the adhesion of the wheel onto the rail.

expertise to control the whole braking system,

to the highest service speeds. Our 3 step UIC
control solution is the only one worldwide having
demonstrated its full performance

(worldwide speed record test campaign,
France, January – April 2007).

MAGNETIC TRACK BRAKES
BOGIE BRAKE STATIONS
With a full portfolio of very robust tread brake and compact disc
brake solutions, facilitating integration on tight bogies and easy
maintenance, while ensuring optimised stress absorption even in the
most demanding operating conditions, Faiveley Transport’s compact
C3 disc brake units are compatible with both axle mounted and wheel
mounted discs. Faiveley Transport is at the leading edge for friction
pair solutions with high performance discs and sintered metal pads
capable to absorb friction energy as high as 40MJ.
Compact - light - robust
Highly solicited during safety and emergency
situations, UIC-qualified Magnetic Track Brakes
are essential for train safety.
Faiveley Transport’s electro magnetic track brakes
provide additional braking power with adhesive
force up to 84kN per metre and magnet.
The modularity in material, length and design
facilitates integration on bogies while preserving
high braking performance.
Faiveley Transport also offers solutions with
permanent track brakes with adhesive force up to
64kN per metre and magnet.

Italian railways TRENITALIA today
operates a variety of trains, providing
a competitive service in the High
Speed trains segment. They wanted
a new level of standardization,
of operational flexibility and
reduced life cycle costs. All these
specific requirements are fulfilled by
the V300 ZEFIRO, indicated by Mr.
Mauro Moretti (TI former MD) as “the
most beautiful train in the world”.
TRENITALIA ordered 50 trains
(with options of further 10 train
sets). Ansaldobreda / Bombardier

high speed trains, adequate cross blending

at high speed control and compensation by
friction brake or as a substitution at all speeds

From the driver’s hand to the wheel
Under usual operational conditions the pneumatic brake works as the major subsystem,
interfacing the traction for blending and Wheel Slide Protection. In case of emergency
braking the Faiveley Transport system is fully responsible for brake performance
and stopping distance – from the driver’s hand to the wheel.

BURAN oil free compressor technology, is both environmentally friendly and also helps
reduce life cycle costs.
This innovative brake system, consisting of pneumatic and electro-pneumatic components,
provides new functions in these vehicle segments, and allows great flexibility to follow
operational needs. Compact calipers concept C3 brake force generation and outstanding
brake discs (both wheel mounted R-type and axle mounted WKS-type) provide new levels
of stopping power. The friction brake is complemented, as option, by magnetic track brake.
