KIYOMIZU MACHIYA - How to reach the house
The easiest way to go from Kyoto Station or from the check-in office to Kiyomizu Machiya is by taxi. The house is about 2 km away from the station
and it will take you about 10 minutes and cost about yen 1,000 (for up to four persons). The bus is yen 230 per person.
The indicated route follows the Shichijo Street, crosses the Kamo river, passes in front of the Sanjusangendô Temple and the National Museum, then
turns left onto the Higashioji street. At the next big crossing, Umamachi Intersection, the taxi should take a right and drop you right there, in front of an
orange postal letterbox. The house is just across the street. See the detailed enlarged map.
From the station, you can also take bus #206 to go to the “Umamachi Bus Stop”. From the bus stop, follow the instructions on the enlarged map. See

Red route (Taxi): The taxi will turn right on Shibutani Street (if you’re arriving from Kyoto Station) and should drop you across the street from a watch shop
(Hayakawa), near an orange postbox. Cross the street, walk in front of the Watch Shop and enter the small lane one house after the shop (Our name is written on the
small gate.) Kiyomizu Machiya is the first house on your right in this lane, behind the large mansion.
Green route (Bus): From the Umamachi Bus stop, walk to the intersection, cross the street and enter the small lane after the watch shop. Kiyomizu Machiya is the

the Shibutani Street. It should then drop you after about 20-25 m
