BUDDY BIKE
Our latest fundraising goal is to purchase this
custom built BUDDY BIKE.
A tandem bike for two, the front of the bike is
fitted with a high backed seat accommodating
one “rider” while the rear has a traditional
bike seat. The rear rider controls the pedals
and steering. For riders with cognitive or physical disabilities who may not be able to ride
safely on their own or lack the strength to pedal this is an exciting opportunity to safely enjoy the view and experience of “riding” a bicycle possibly for the very first time.
The Options group is running a pop can drive
as one method of fundraising towards the bike.
Please bring your pop cans in (bagged) to Joyce
Cook.
This years Sweet Seats fundraiser is in support of the Buddy Bike with a goal to raise the
$8,000.00 needed to purchase a bike of our
own.

Ed attended the PanAm opening ceremony
I want to share with people that I went to the Pan Am opening ceremonies on Friday July 10th, 2015 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
I traveled to the ceremony by car and Go train. This was a very important event for me.
I already have my tickets for the closing ceremonies on July 26th,
2015 which is at the Roger’s Centre as well.
I am looking forward to seeing Canada and all other participants celebrate their medals!!

Horsemanship at Awesome Acres
Each Tuesday Sara heads out to Awesome Acres in Tottenham where she rides a gentle therapeutic
horse named Helka. The smile on her face was ear-to-ear as she told me about this wonderful experience.
It is the highlight of Sara’s week.
Cathy Martin runs this charitable organization providing riding lessons and other horse and farm activities for children and adults with developmental disabilities. After her lesson on Helka, Sara also enjoys
helping to hitch miniature pony Gilligan to a one-person cart to go for a ride. An animal lover, Sara revels in the attention from the resident Australian Shepherd and numerous barn cats.
For more information on Awesome Acres Therapeutic Riding Centre and Club check out their Facebook
page. They work closely with Community Living agencies to provide this “awesome” experience.
My Lifetime Goal
I am writing to share that I accomplished by “Lifetime Goal” in March 2015. Ever since I can remember I
have wanted to see Garth Brooks in concert. Last year I went to a Garth Brooks impersonator concert and
it was great but I still wanted to see the real Garth Brooks.
When tickets became available for the Tour in Buffalo NY, I was quick to get my tickets. It was so exciting. I listened to Garth Brooks all the way to the concert, 3 hour trip.
We arrived early and had
dinner at a place called
716, I had a burger and
fries and a root beer,
which was yummy!
When I got into the Niagara Center I bought a
Garth Brooks Tour tshirt.
The concert was amazing.
Lots of lights and of
course Garth Brooks! I am
so glad that I went.
