VITA!
Mya Audrey was fascinated by the piano at a very early stage in her life. Being only 8 years old,
she !was already inspired by the big names, such as Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole. Later on
Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Lenny Kravitz added to this list, who as well sparked her
interest in Jazz and Popmusic.
As a teenager she played in several bands, where she often had to pitch in as a singer – a
very happy coincidence, as we now know today. Since the very beginning Mya Audrey sings
and composes in English – the language she grew up with, not only because of her descent,
but also because of the many jazz records that used to be played at her home. In summer 2002,
she graduated with a double diploma, one in piano, the other in vocal performance at the
renowned University of the Arts in Bern (Swiss Jazz School). Since then, she worked as a
songwriter and co-writer for several various productions, as well as being a freelance performer
in bands or as a solo-artist.
She was able to perform her own touching titles, as well as interpretations of other songs dear to
her personally, at various international festivals (Montreux Jazz Festival, Blue Balls
Luzern, Gurtenfestival Bern, MIDI-Festival Shanghai/Beijing, etc.). She doesn’t only feel at
ease on the big stages, she also enjoys herself in more private settings, such as weekly
concerts in local bars and clubs. Similar to Billy Joel – who wrote the well-known song „Piano
Man“ – Mya Audrey was looking for her individual inspiration as a singer and pianist, exactly
what she sings about in her song „Piano Girl“, of course not without a twinkling smile. Musical
comparisons suggest themselves, for example to the gentle and jazzy Norah Jones, as well
as to the lyrical Fiona Apple, or even the pop singer Missy Higgins, and sometimes Mya
Audrey’s songwriting also takes after the one from Sarah Mc Lachlan.
In 2010 Mya Audrey presented her impressive debut album called „Sudden Breeze“. Pop
meets Jazz! Whereas jazz has never lost its magic to her, she still dared to leave her comfort
zone to find her own personal kind of sound. On her second album „Wayfaring Trails“ she tells
her stories from encounters and gives an insight in her travelogues from the past three years,
when and where she captured many audiences on different continents with her music.
All the stories that life knows how to tell and the touching fates – this is the trail Mya’s
new album is following, a musical symbiosis of colorful tones and pictures, as well as
unrestrained paintings of sounds.

THE ALBUM!

With the release of the second album „Wayfaring Trails“, produced by Luk Zimmermann and Dave Muther, singer/songwriter Mya
Audrey once again proves that she is able to keeping the exceptional balance between expression and technical perfection. With her jazzy
piano sounds, as well as dissoncances full of tension, her sound is marvelously versatile, going all the way from crystal clarity to seemingly
raw force, also through the guitar, which is so beautifully and melancholically played by Luk Zimmermann. Under Mya’s fingers all the melodies
of her poetical piano-pop bloom through the cracks of the urban microcosm in Berlin. The musical sketches of those meaningful journeys
and the manifold pictured episodes mirror themselves like chapters on the entire album. In this expressiveness she is supported by well-known
musicians of the German Pop industry: Roy Knauf (Seeed/Deichkind), Thomsen Merkel (Mark Forster, Julia Mercell), Marcel Römer (Juli/Boy),
as well as the young Swiss singer/songwriter and drummer Domi Chansorn, gave the songs their final touch.
There are songs like the passionate „Through The Screen“ or „Beautiful Goodbyes“, which were written together with the New York based
English songwriter Oli Rockberger. While the protagonist in the featured title song „Beautiful Goodbyes“ reminisces over a broken relationship,
she reflects the effects of the digital age in „Through The Screen“: „In the today overly technological world, we yearn for a more analog
romanticism and the direct social exchange. A whole generation being so dependent on social networks leads to the question where we
ultimately will end up.“
Opposed to this, there are also the tender, more sensitive songs like "The River Flows“, or „Strong Enough“, which create a more intimate
and emotional intonation, with a monumental goosebump- factor. Freed from a lot of weight in the arrangement she is able to freely thrive and
leaves the audience with intense and vivid moments. Several concerts and solo performances led her many times to the most important
stages in Europe, as well as renowned festivals in Asia.
Mya Audrey is the winner of the 2008 Chrysler Award at the Jazzfestival Montreux, she was awarded with the Soloist Prize as singer,
pianist and composer. This worldwide recognition created an enthusiastic response throughout audience and press alike, which
resulted in her debut performances at the European Football Championships and the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing.

We need an absolute minimum of 1 good Wedge (12“).
The PA and the monitoring system has to be set up and working at the
arrival of the artist.

All the Equipement is 220V and a swiss, T13, plug-type.
Please make shure that the electricity for the stage is separated from the light.
In general, Mya is not very complicated, she just likes good sound and
professional equipement.
