A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR...
A FRESH COAT OF PAINT
On Friday, I finished what has turned out to be nearly a yearlong project
- painting the interior of our house. When we moved into the house last
June it was obvious that every room in the house needed to be painted.
So, I soon went to work painting a room as time permitted. Last weekend
I painted the laundry room and was finished with the painting. (I have
made some good friends at Just So Painting and Decorating, Inc.)
It is amazing to see what a difference the fresh coat of paint has made
for our house. It looks new and fresh. The blemishes and scuffmarks
are hidden. It has made our house a more inviting environment. It is a
more pleasant place to live.
I have come to understand that God is the painting business related
to our lives. He comes to us and is willing to cover up the blemishes
and scuffmarks in our lives. He can repair what is broken about us. He
desires to refresh and remake us.
Paul wrote of this work of God when he said: “Blessed are those whose
iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered” (Romans 4:7, NRSV).

VATICINATION
We’ll avoid the temptation
to give a long oration
or even a short narration
about our affliliation
and yearly participation
with Blount Habitat.
So our prediction
yeah, our vaticination
is that our congregation
will do the time and effort donation
that allows our next allocation
to fund a nearby home.

Correction to last week’s giving:
A donation was given to the Building

Lidvall, June McLaren and Moss Ann
Owen by Myrna Davis, but it was
supposed to be listed as a gift to the
Bill Bailey Scholarship Fund.
Thank You
Thank you for all the cards, gifts and
visits to our mother/grandmother during
her illness. And, for the outpouring
of kindness to our family after her
passing. Dee truly loved her church and

GAME
DAY
April 25, 2013
10:00 am-12:00 pm
Join us for food, fun and fellowship.
Light lunch at noon. For reservations call 982-4354.
In May of 2010, at the age of 6, Clayton Ailshie
was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes. Now
at the age of 8, he and his family work to help
find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. We as his
church family want to help. Please join us on
Saturday May 11, 2013. We are registered to
walk with “Clayton’s Crew” in the JDRF Walk to
Cure Diabetes. We are excited this year to raise
money and have a great time walking at World’s
Fair Park with family and friends!
Go to alcoafumc.com and click on the
JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes banner. There are
three ways you can become involved...
1. You can make a DONATION to
support Clayton’s fundraising for JDRF,
WITHOUT WALKING!
2. You can JOIN the “Clayton’s Crew”
team, raise the suggested $100 or more for
JDRF, and WALK with us on 5/11/2013!
Every 60 seconds, malaria claims a life in Africa.
Millions of lives are needlessly lost each year…
Imagine No Malaria is an extraordinary effort
of the people of The United Methodist Church,
putting our faith into action to end preventable
deaths by malaria in Africa, especially the
death of a child or mother.
3. You can PRAY for Clayton, our team, and all
the people involved in hopes that this year’s
fundraising efforts will be the biggest ever!
We love our sweet Clayton Ailshie!
You can save a child’s life for only $10!
This Mother’s Day, rather than buying flowers,
you can sponsor a child in honor of your mother!
Save a life in honor of the one
that gave you life!

THANK YOU
Dear Members of First United Methodist Church,
Everyone associated with Community Food Connection would like
to take this opportunity to extend our thanks to you for your recent
donation of $1520.00.
We have enclosed a Community Food Connection newsletter to let
you know what is happening with us. (check it out on the church bulletin
board) We are so grateful for generous donors like you. Without your
continued support, we would not be able to provide food for the hungry
in Blount County.
Sincerely, Ann Peterson, Treasurer
