Local guides will lead us into a part of Mexico where tourists never go. We will sit at the feet of curanderas, participate in moving rituals, be exposed to natural medicine-‐ botanicals and energy work, explore the ruins that speak of the wisdom and knowledge of the indigenous people, enjoy the art, food, and culture of Oaxaca city, hike through the mountains along ancient trading caminos, support local ecotourism companies, stay together in the home of a powerful healer deep in the dry jungle of the coffee country and open ourselves to the magic and medicine that is Oaxaca. We will follow a carefully planned itinerary, designed to maximize your enjoyment. You will love the beautiful places we stay and amazing food. This is a world class trip offered on a very local level to a small intimate group. The safety of our group and the stimulation of the traditional culture will help us explore our own potential to absorb meaningful insights and reenergize on a deep level. This trip will refresh your spirit and recharge your sense of appreciation. This will be truly healing journey, with unique exposure to traditional medicine including the botanicals and the energetic work of powerful and accomplished curanderos. There will be varied activities, lots to do, and much to enjoy and appreciate, all offered in a way that helps you absorb and expand your own capacities. Jan 15-‐ arrive in Oaxaca city where we will stay through Jan 18. We will have many powerful activities including a moving welcome ceremony, interaction and learning with local healers, a ritual Oaxacan sweat lodge, a limpia (ritual cleansing) demonstration, a guided tour of the famous ruins of Monte Alban, and more. Breakfast and lunch are provided beginning the 16th and we can explore, eat, and shop in the city in the evening All meals are included for the rest of the trip until we depart after breakfast on Jan 26. You may want additional snacks including food for the van rides, and you need to purchase your own soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Jan 18-‐20-‐ we journey into the northern Sierras where we will stay in a small village, visit with a curandera, and experience the amazing diversity of botanical medicine with a guided walk, we then hike for a day following a pre-‐Columbian trading path (the van carries our luggage, and anyone else who wants to ride) through the mountains to another pre-‐Columbian village where we will be hosted and given a tour of nearby sacred ruins. These villages are part of the Pueblos Mancomunados, a cooperative group with communal land and ecotourism project. Jan 20-‐22-‐ we head up into the Sierra Sur where we stay at a gorgeous yoga retreat permaculture center, high in the mountains, and experience what the area has to offer. Jan 22-‐25 we travel down the winding road toward the coast, stopping to visit a botanical garden for lunch, a walk, and a swim, and then go on up to the coffee plantation where we will be guests in a private home and enjoy the wisdom and presence of Elizabeth, our hostess and a gifted healer. After breakfast on the 25, we receive a transfer to the Huatulco airport or to the coastal beaches in San Agustinillo for an optional post trip addition.
