The Bosley family is humbled by the expressions of love and support
The Bosley family is humbled by the expressions of love and
support extended to our family during this time of deep sorrow
and uncertainty. We are blessed to have so many friends and
family members that will guard us with prayer and encourage
us to look to the hills from which our help comes from. We love
you and we thank you for helping us honor our mother's legacy
and to celebrate her victory.

M
inister Dorothy Jewel Pugh Bosley was born May 4, 1934, to
the late Nathaniel Pugh and Alberta Phillips Pugh in Marshall, Texas.
Minister Bosley was a rare and precious gift from the Lord, to her
family, friends, and to all who crossed her path. Dorothy’s genuine
enthusiasm for life empowered her to embrace the quality of her life
and not just the quantity of her years. She loved God’s people and
valued every personal relationship. Minister Bosley treated her family
and friends as if they were the most important people in her world.
She touched many lives and has left us in a state of deep respect and
admiration. She was a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great
grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. Her heart was
made of pure gold and she was both giving and kind. She was always
willing to do what she could to help one reach his or her full potential.
Beautiful Is My Mother
Beautiful is her kindness
Like a soft kiss, given by a raindrop
To a snow-white daffodil
Beautiful is her spirit
Like the arcs of colored light
Called rainbows that beautify the sky
Beautiful is her voice
Like the melody of a soft song
Floating upon the West Wind
Beautiful is her smile
Dorothy attended Willowbrook and Jefferson High School in Los
Angeles, California. Dorothy was a well-rounded student who thrived
academically and in various extra-curricular activities. Some of these
activities included the marching band, orchestra, student counsel,
and becoming a majorette. She was a graduate of Compton High
School’s class of 1952, and continued her pursuit of academic success
by achieving her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Before her passing, Dorothy remained actively involved in the
Willowbrook Alumni Roundup, The Willowbrook Ladies Club, and
The Jefferson High School Reunion Committee. She attended Aenon
Bible College in Los Angeles, California to perfect her spiritual walk
and better equip herself to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Like a sudden burst of sunlight
Breaking through the clouds
Beautiful is her hair
Like puffs of cotton grass
Dancing in the summer fields of Alaska
Beautiful are her eyes
Like the sky-lit sapphires
Worn by the ancient queens of Egypt
Dorothy worked for the State of California’s Employment Development
Department helping others to obtain and sustain gainful employment.
She was a committed employee and served 25 years before retiring
in 1996. After her retirement, she became a world-class traveler. She
loved her children and was very proud of each accomplishment. She
spent many years jet-setting across the nation to attend baseball
games, weddings, births, graduations, promotions, retirement
celebrations, and reunions of all kinds. It was quite difficult for family
and friends to keep up with her fast pace and on-the-go spirit.
Beautiful is her heart
Like a Double Delight Rose
Admired for its beauty and fragrance
Beautiful is her love
Like a heavenly hug
Received from the wings of an angel

T
he Lord miraculously healed Dorothy’s body twice and honored her prayers
to remain with friends, family and those she so dearly loved. Mother Dorothy
was a living testimony of God’s grace and tender mercy. She loved the Lord
with all her heart and lived each day like it was her last. She brought each of
her children to the true knowledge of Jesus Christ and planted generational
seeds of miracles and blessings. When the Lord was ready for our mother (our
angel), and could wait no longer, he called one last time. Mother packed her
bag full of faith, put on her traveling shoes and began the walk up the King’s
highway. Under the power and authority of the Holy Spirit, all six of Dorothy’s
children ushered her into the presence of the Lord. Mother slipped gently into
the arms of her savior, quietly and peacefully to a place where sickness and
pain does not exist.
orothy accepted Christ at an early age and received the
gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38) and was baptized in the name
of Jesus Christ (Acts 19:1-6) at Jesus Way Tabernacle Church in
Oceanside, California on August 25, 1969. In 1973, she joined in
membership with the Greater Bethany Community Church
where she served as a faithful member for 35 years. Dorothy
was an active member, serving in various ministries, including
Bishop’s choir pianist, Nurses Guild, Hospitality, Bereavement,
Sick and Visitation, Home Bound, Pastor’s Aides, Senior
Missionaries, Ministerial Alliance, and in her latter years, Senior
Mothers of City of Refuge.
Dorothy was united in marriage to the late Johnny Bell Brown
and to that union two children were born. She was later united
in marriage to Thaddis Bosley, Sr. and to that union six children
were born. Dorothy was preceded in eternal rest by her youngest
son, Gregory Rennard Bosley and oldest daughter, Donna Lynn
Brown (Twin). She leaves to cherish her legacy, two sons:
Donald L. Brown of Cerritos, CA, Thaddis Bosley, Jr., of Cupertino,
CA. Four daughters: Karen E. Drinkard (Roland), Frisco, TX,
Joycelyn E. Taylor (Charles), Collierville, TN, Jacqueline E. Tatum
(Terrance), Collierville, TN, Rosilyn E. Houston (Ronald), Plano,
