HEART
At Sinai Akiba, children discover both a
strong sense of self and of their role in a
caring community. They learn to reach
out and to respond to the needs of others. They develop a sense of responsibility and
a commitment to Tikkun Olam–repairing
the world–through community service
projects at every grade level. Through Torah study, they gain a resource for spiritual
and ethical choices and achieve a depth of
character and a connection to community
that will enrich their lives and the world. These are skills that awaken the heart.
A School for the Mind, the Heart, the Soul
Sinai Akiba Academy provides a superior
general and Judaic education, engaging
children in both the joy and discipline of
learning. We introduce students to a life of
personal growth, sensitivity, responsibility
and intellectual inquiry, shaped by Jewish
practices and informed by a respect for
diversity of thought.
MIND
Sinai Akiba Academy, a Conservative
day school, draws on the rich traditions
of our Jewish heritage while offering
an excellent general education. From
pre-k through 8th grade, a whole education is what Sinai Akiba Academy is all
about. Children spend two-thirds of their
day building a skills and knowledge base
in math, language arts, social studies,
science and history. During the other
third of the day students master Hebrew,
and apply their critical thinking skills and
knowledge of literature to understanding
the Torah. Within both curricula, general
and Judaic, they discover new ways to
express themselves through art, drama,
literature, technology and music. Leadership skills and creativity are further
encouraged through co-curricular activities, including student council, orchestra,
inter-scholastic sports, outdoor education
and after-school activities. By the time
children complete middle school they are
more than ready for the challenges of any
top-tier secondary school.
SOUL
The soul of Sinai Akiba Academy is apparent in every classroom, in every hallway,
in every child’s face. Daily prayer is part
of the curriculum. On Fridays, students
lead Kabbalat Shabbat services. In upper
elementary and middle school, students
gain a richer understanding of Biblical text,
forming their own interpretations. Sinai Akiba Academy is a living example
of K’lal Yisrael, the diverse Jewish community, weaving together children from a
wide range of religious and cultural backgrounds. Through their life at the school
and their life at Sinai Temple, Sinai Akiba
Academy students and families form bonds
that long outlast the school years. Sinai
Akiba Academy is a vibrant community, a
community for life.
