A decade ago, a Steiff retailer arrived at her shop to find a large vintage Teddy
sitting at the front door. It was accompanied by a note which explained that the
original owner was no longer able to care for the beloved bear, “I know you’ll find
him a good home,” read the note. It was this touching story that inspired us to
create our “Grand Old Bear” – a recreation of the Teddy left on the doorstep. For
extra authenticity, our artisans have airbrushed subtle signs of age on his snout and
paw pads. “Grand Old Bear” captures all the charm and appeal of the original
while keeping his heartwarming history alive for generations to come.

EAN 682698
Silk plush, 12 inches
5-way jointed

LED of 1,500 pieces
No Steiff collection would be complete without a classic Teddy Baby. For 2014,
we’re pleased to present a version of this enduring design that hasn’t been seen
since 1948! After WWII, mohair was in short supply in Germany, requiring Steiff
to use alternative materials. That’s when Silk Teddy Baby was born. Instead of
mohair, the coat of our reproduction is a rich, golden silk-milled especially to match
the color and texture of the post-war original. He wears a genuine leather collar
that finished with an antiqued brass bell. Even his chest tag has been re-created to
match the 1948 design. This is your chance to own a truly unique piece of Steiff
history.

Mohair, 8 inches
Head jointed
LED of 1,500 pieces
In the 1940’s The Saturday Evening Post introduced a character that would capture
the hearts of the nation – a black and white cocker spaniel named “Butch.” Created
by artist Albert Staehle, Butch appeared on the magazine’s cover more than two
dozen times. So it was only natural that Steiff would produce a toy version of the
character. First manufactured in 1958 only, Butch makes his return in 2014. He’s
made from the finest mohair plush using archival patterns. Like the original, Butch
features brown “googly” eyes and a hand painted coat. Whether you remember his
