World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Shropshire, since 1930.
Within our Victorian factory our talented team of teddy bear makers use traditional
methods and premium materials to craft the finest bears in the world. We believe that
nothing compares to a Merrythought; being handmade in England, each bear has an
individual personality, irresistible charm and superior quality that can last a lifetime.

Merrythought’s 2013 Traditional Collection offers a
wonderful range of classically designed teddy bears, such
as the timeless ‘London Gold’, alongside some lovely new
characters including ‘Chester’, ‘My Merrythought Bear’
and a fabulous renaissance of the famous ‘Beefeater’
and ‘Guardsman’ teddy bears.

wavy gold mohair gives him a particularly endearing

The Queen’s Coronation
Commemorative Teddy Bear
A truly exceptional teddy bear created to mark
the 60th Anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen’s
Coronation on 2 June 1953.
This beautiful deep gold mohair bear features striking
blue eyes and pearl white silk pads embroidered in
gold thread with the words ‘The Queen’s Coronation
1953-2013’. The bear wears a luxurious silk-lined velvet
robe, trimmed with a soft white plush and delicately
embroidered with gold thread to replicate that which
was worn by Queen Elizabeth II on the day she was
crowned at Westminster Abbey.

Cancer Care

charity Marie Curie Cancer Care. This unique mohair
teddy bear has been designed with the charity’s daffodil

Alpha Farnell Tarquin
The historic toy company J. K. Farnell & Co Ltd created
the first British teddy bears in 1906. Throughout the
first half of the twentieth century, Farnell became the
most respected and influential toy manufacturer in
Britain, making fabulous jointed mohair teddy bears
and soft toys, including the famous ‘Alpha’ toys. Sadly,
the company was forced to close production in 1970,
however, Merrythought has since taken on the name
and designs, enabling the wonderful Farnell teddy bear
to continue to be brought to life.
Alpha Farnell Tarquin has been created from designs
originating from the archives of Britian’s oldest teddy
bear brand. He is a timeless bear crafted from a luscious
chocolate mohair and the finest wool felt, featuring the
signature Merrythought Alpha Farnell woven label on
his right foot.
