This adapter replaces the black steel Minoura “back plate“ supplied with all brackets.
S T E P 1 With the plate sitting in the curve of the rails, using a 4mm allen
wrench, adjust the heads of the short bolts so they are snug against the inside of
the rails. Be sure there is no sideways movement of the plate—this is critical.
S T E P 3 Attach the rear plate to the bracket and center it on the rails. Tighten
down gently. Don’t over do it—it only needs to hold a bag, not the weight of
a person! Using a long T-handle allen wrench makes the job easier. (It may be
easier by removing the entire seat post.)
The rails on the new Rivet Independence saddle are closer together than Brooks
or SAA, but yet wider than Gilles Berthoud (which require no adapter at all).
Consequently, a second set of shorter screws attached to the outside of the rails
(not shown), was required to keep the plate from riding upwards. This may also
be the case with other brands. Once you have assembled everything, (step 4), go
ahead and forcefully grap the bracket and attempt to move it up and down. If you
find that your bracket does slide upwards & you have room for an extra pair of
bolts on the outside of the rails, please shoot us an e-mail and we‘ll happily mail
you out the parts at no charge. Request the following: Extra pair short screws
& bolts for 2311. Or you may find them at a local hardware store: M5 x 10mm
socket head cap screw (0.8mm pitch) & matching M5 hex nuts.
S T E P 4 Final assembly complete. Although the 2311 back plate is hardended
(T-6), it will still bend a little. This is normal as this “giving” a little will dampen
any shocks to the bag system.

S T E P 2 The plate should be in the center of the curve or slightly above it.
