Greetings
to the ambassadors in the Body of Christ - The
members of the Ninth Episcopal District of the African Methodist
Episcopal Church! We are grateful to our infinite Creator-God- for
allowing us to enter into the 2015 New Year. Ask yourself this question,
―What Do I want Christ to do in me and through for His Church in the
State of Alabama in 2015?‖
We hear over and over again in secular society that learning is a lifelong
process. And an ancient Chinese Proverb states, ―Learning is a treasure
that will follow its owner everywhere.‖ Further, 20th Century philosopher,
George Santayana said, ―Even the wisest mind has something yet to learn.‖
And my heart is “strangely warmed‖ when I read from the perfect Word
of God saying, ―…Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who
asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do it with
gentleness and respect‖ (1st Peter3:15 NIV).
Just as secular society, we as Christian leaders in the religious community
firmly believe that Christian Education is a lifelong process; and it is our
responsibility to present the gospel to the unsaved and nurture and grow
the saved into mature disciples for Christ. In partnership with you, and as
your servant leader over the past 6 years, we have a strong history of
engaging in lifelong learning challenges and opportunities to refine,
refresh, and retool the people of God.

In keeping with our history of teach the people wisely and they will learn,
we are about to embark yet on another spiritual journey that calls us to
continue being mentors, coaches and networkers for our churches and
communities. Thus, we invite every child, youth, young adult and adult to
participate in our 90-Day Stewardship ―Biblical Plan of Action” for the
Ninth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The
Thirteen Foundational (I Dare You…) Principles, will lead us to greater
awareness of the meaning, mission, passion and purpose of our God-given
resources- the (3Ts of Stewardship)—Time, Talents, and Treasures. A
faithful steward manages his/her 3Ts carefully, knowing that God is our
ultimate employer. The Great Commission is compelling. And the
process of conversion and discipleship is a lifelong endeavor in building a
church community of love, compassion and commitment.
And to all of you in the Ninth Episcopal District, it would not be the great
place it is without you, and it will not get to where it needs to go without
your help. Let us continue to rely on the Holy Spirit to fill us with
holiness and humility, so that God will be glorified in all we do.
Last but not least, we sincerely appreciate and are deeply indebted to those
persons who assisted us in developing the 90-Day Stewardship ―Biblical
Plan of Action.‖ Thank you for committing your time and talents as
faithful stewards.
See you on the next leg of the journey, as we fast forward on the course
that positions us to be stronger and even better witnesses for Christ
personally and as we interact with others.
Wear the arm bands, which are being provided through your presiding
elder, to remind all we come in contact, ―TRUST GOD!‖
In the Name of Him who does all things well!

Curriculum Guide – Stewardship: Biblical Principles in Action
“…Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the
floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will
not be room enough to store it.” – -Malachi 3:10 (NIV)
OVERVIEW
All people crave rich experiences that are engaging, relevant, applicable to
everyday life and personal. It is with these truths in mind that we
prayerfully present the 90-Day Stewardship “Biblical Plan of Action” for
the Ninth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; a
spiritual journey that will transform your daily life.
The ―Biblical Plan of Action‖ consists of the following components: (1)
biblical teaching and preaching; (2) various types of prayers; and (3) songs
and hymns, responsive readings, etc. As we develop a more intimate and
personal relationship with God, through committing our time, talents and
treasures, we can look upward, inward and outward as the Holy Spirit speaks to us.
We can make Christ front and center to our lives as illustrated in the St.
Matthew, Chapter 6, verse 21, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart
be also. ” Our hope is for all participants to worship, praise, adore, and
magnify God’s Holy Name, to generate love for God and for one another.
Our prayer is that God will drop an anointing into your soul to listen intently and
watch for the Holy Spirit’s leading. Further, The 13 Principles incorporated in the
study will serve as a channel to impact our lives spiritually, physically,
emotionally, relationally, and financially.
Therefore, we seek God’s guidance and directions by way of His Holy
Spirit to rest upon our Episcopal Servant Leader, Bishop James L. Davis as
he faithfully charges us to follow God’s Biblical Plan regarding the “13
Foundational Principles of Biblical Stewardship as outlined in the
succeeding pages of the Study Guide.

Types of Prayers/Litanies
The prayer of faith: James 5:15says, “And the prayer of faith will
save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.” In this
context, prayer is offered in faith for someone who is sick, asking
God to heal. When we pray, we are to believe in the power and
goodness of God (Mark 9:23).
The prayer of agreement (also known as corporate prayer):
After Jesus‟ ascension, the disciples “all joined together constantly
in prayer” (Acts 1:14). Later, after Pentecost, the early church
“devoted themselves” to prayer (Acts 2:42). Their example
encourages us to pray with others.
The prayer of request (or supplication):We are to take our
requests to God. Philippians 4:6teaches, “Do not be anxious about
anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Part of
winning the spiritual battle is to be “praying at all times in the
Spirit, with all prayer and supplication” (Ephesians 6:18).
The prayer of thanksgiving: We see another type of prayer in
Philippians 4:5: thanksgiving or thanks to God. “With thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God.” Many examples of
thanksgiving prayers can be found in the Psalms.
The prayer of worship: The prayer of worship is similar to the
prayer of thanksgiving. The difference is that worship focuses on
who God is; thanksgiving focuses on what God has done. Church
leaders in Antioch prayed in this manner with fasting: “While they
were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, „Set

apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called
them.‟ Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them
and sent them off” (Acts 13:2-3).
The prayer of consecration: Sometimes, prayer is a time of
setting ourselves apart to follow God‟s will. Jesus made such a
prayer the night before His crucifixion: “And going a little farther
he fell on his face and prayed, saying, „My Father, if it be possible,
let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you
will‟” (Matthew 26:39).
