This 1-day seminar provides the basic concepts and ideas to understand and install Viessmann
Solar Thermal Technology.
Course Description:
Vi102 is designed to provide the foundations of Solar Thermal Technology. If heating water with
the sun is a market you want to capture, you need to attend this seminar.
What applications make sense for Solar Thermal system?
Is it better to use Flat Plate or Vacuum Tube collectors?
How many collectors are required?
How and where can I mount the collectors?

This 1-day seminar deals with design sizing and control for residential and commercial Solar
Systems. We will also examine simulation software.

to know the differences between high temperature designs, like cast iron and the new Vitodens
condensing technolgy to get the most efficiency out of your installation.
Course Description:
This seminar will cover the differences between non-condensing and condensing heating
systems. You will learn options for modifying existing system to get the best efficiency possible
when you upgrade to a Vitodens condensing boiler. Mixing valves, Pumps, Delta T’s, Primary
secondary piping designs, and Venting, will all be covered.

Course Description:
Cast iron boilers still have a firm place in the hydronic heating world. This seminar will address
high mass cast iron boilers and steady state efficiency. We will look at control stradegies for cast
iron systems including return water protection and distribution for cast iron boilers.
Some of the questions we will address:
• How do I protect my boiler from condensing.
• What is return water protection and how is it achieved.
• Can I combine condensing and non-condensing boilers in the same plant.
• What are my venting choices.
• How do I know the correct burner to choose.
